Any previous patients.....after insurance approval is given do they call to schedule surg date or do you have to wait until your first consult with the surgeon?  thanks (:

Once the insurance company has sent the approval letter, your surgical coordinator will call you with 4 dates....
1) Consult
2) Pre-op class
3) endoscopy
4) surgery

She will have them all 4 and they are all pretty close together. My consult was 4/15, pre-op class 4/22, endoscopy 4/24 and surgery 4/28.

Where are you in the process? Who is your surgical coordinator?

I used Dr. Hobson and absolutely loved him. He was GREAT! I have heard they are all good.

I do want you to know that it took me 10 months from beginning to end for this to be done. I had to do a 6 month diet, all of the testing etc. So when I answered this question, I answered it from the "all paperwork submitted and insurance approval" stand point. That was VERY quick. Once my paperwork was done and it was all in order, it flew. But...it was painfully slow up until then. But...it gave me time to get things ready and to prepare myself for my changes.

What insurance do you have? Have you spoke with them yet about any requirements? Also, Peachtree Bariatrics does require testing too such as the psych exam, sleep study, etc. depending on your age and things. The psych exam is a definite for everyone regardless of age.

As long as you go by the checklist given to you at the seminar AND by any insurance requirements, you should have no problems at all. Good luck to you.
