WLS Support Group at Winn Army Hospital/Hinesville

Hello Everyone,

Winn has a support group meeting the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the second floor confrence room.  You are all welcomed to come it starts at 6:30pm to 8pm. Sept. 9, 2008 is the next meeting.  Hope to see you there.

Thank you for replying with the time, Connie.  I was planning on calling the surgery dept. phone number my doc gave me to find out the exact time the meeting would be held.  Hope to meet/see everyone there. :)

Hello, fellow Georgia people. I have been a member of Obesity Help. Com for a while, but I didn’t know that they had forums by state.  I live in Ellabell (Pembroke) and would be interested in attending the meetings of Ft. Stewart also. But I am not sure if I am eligible to come with you guys because I had my surgery with Memorial. They have wonderful groups on Wednesdays @ 7:00 but Ft. Stewart would be closer to me, instead of going back to Savannah after work hours.

Granted I haven't been to a meeting yet, but I don't believe that should be a concern for you as they don't do the WLS at Fort Stewart anymore; I would hazard a guess that nearly everyone who will be in attendance at the meeting had to go somewhere outside Ft. Stewart to have theirs done.  I had mine done at a surgeon in SC, so a local support group would be more accessible for me than a 3 hour drive each month to Columbia.  The Sept. one will be my first meeting. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Thank you Connie and Kelly.  I wont  be able to attend the Sept meeting as I am out of town for my TDY but I do hope that I will feel well enough to attend the Oct meeting.  My surgery is scheduled for Sep 23 now, I am going to try to change it to the 30th as my liquid diet starts while i am out of town and not sure that is going to work well.  Keep us posted on the support group meeting and hope to see ya in Oct, and Nov for sure.....

Memorial has several meetings each month but there is also a meeting in Savannah on Abercorn at a chuch once a month that welcomes all though most are patients from the Brunswick WLS center. I am not sure of the dates and times but you can contact the center in Brunswick for the info.
There is a great meeting at the JEA building on the second floor in Savannah the third Thursday of each month with a great leader named Nisa. This meeting welcomes all also and is from 6pm to 7:30pm.
I think the meetings at Ft Stewart are on Tuesday of each month on the second floor if I remember right.

 

I have my surgery date set for the 17th of September.  So I get the chance to make it to next months meeting and to the one in Oct.  I can't wait!  Winn's support group meeting is open to everyone, please come and join us.

I've been sitting in my house for a week now dealing with this stupid coughing/hacking/sinus congestion/fever/headache/general crud virus that's been going around, and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to make the meeting this week!  But today I'm finally feeling a bit better, so I hope to see as many of you there as possible tomorrow night! If I don't make it, it means I had a relapse and didn't want to get everyone else sick! Hope you're all doing well - take care, see you soon! Looking forward to meeting everyone!
