Pre OP appt/surgery change and date

Lots to report as I have not been on in a while!   I had my Preop appt on August 4th and was told that Lap band was not a good option for me as I have a 5cm  hernia and Dr Hart strongly reccomended Gastric bypass instead!  I completely trust his opinion and he ia a great Dr so I am changing to Gastric.   I have mixed emotions both scared and excited!!  My date is WED 13th!  This is the same day as support group at Johns Creek so I expect to see some of you guys!  LOL Keep me in your prayers that God  bring me through safely to the other side!!     Any last words of advice or words of encourragement??  :-)

I also have the hernia situation, I have three in my midsection, I didnt realize I had gotten them until i had a 'late in life baby' lol and my heart doctor told me.  I also have several down low in my abdomen.

Do your ever cause you any pain?  I was wondering because sometimes I have what I call 'attacks' that bring me to m y knee's and make me curl into a fetal position, it's horrible!

Im sure excited about getting rid of all this mess, lol

I have had swelling in the past that was very uncomfortable and could never figure out why it would happen.  I also had an incident last year where I thought I was having a heart attach but was all clear!!  I wonder now if they was the hernia flaring up.. who knows.  Other than that I had no idea!!  Strange hu?? 

you will be fine!!!!  Hart and Johnson are awesome as is Emory.  You will love nurse Byrd if you get her, but all of them are equally nice. 

Congrats Ginger..... I am so excited for you!  I read your story and was so touched by your struggles.  A lot of the story sounds like my life as well.  My mom passed away 12 years ago from a massive coronary.  Of course she was morbidly obese and I am sure the obesity didnt help her health at all.  I miss her every day, but now I can think of the fun times and smile knowing shes with me everyday.  I am waiting for insurance to say yes or no.... and I pray its a yes.  Well I just wanted to say Congrats on getting this far and I am sure, all will be a great journey from here forward... keep us posted.

Thanks Mel.  Ive waited so long for this and things have changed over and over.  I feel like part of it is a dream and another part of it is a nightmare!!  LOL    I pray that all goes well and can not wait till the day where I can do things that I have not been able to since I was a young girl!!!   Tie my shoes with out sitting on the bed sidways will be pretty exciting!!! LOL
