Hello ,  I've been banded since July 2nd...feeling strong and very good at the moment...fighting the head hunger...mostly boredom...waiting to move to Carrollton from Miami on the 15th...so it's been a bit of drag tying up loose ends here and getting set to take a new job in a new state...but hey, I need friends too...so here I am... 29 pounds down...hoping to meet goal sometime next year.... got 66 to go to meet that first goal...when Iget there I will decide if it's enough or to shoot for a few more.... but I'm making progress and I am happy for that.  I've not started eating solid food yet.... what week are you in?  See you out here....

Hey. I actually just got banded on the 29th. Still another week off liquids to go. It's amazing the different post-op diets we are all given. Some people are given clear liquids the first week. I was give anything clear, plus applesause, baby food fruit, low fat yogurt, pureed soups (but they cant be any thicker then the applesause or baby food), SF pudding and SF jello. So all in all I've been doing pretty good. Most head things with me, and my big one is boredom. I'm down 11.8 lbs and only have 126.2 lbs more to go until my goal. Once I reach that I will think about losing some more to bring my BMI down just a little more. I was 318 when I had my surgery.  So is everything set for your new job? Have you found a fill doctor here yet? Georgia is great. I cant wait till I lose enough weight to feel confident enough to goto six flags . Next year hopefully will be Disney World. I cant wait.

Hubby and I are in the process of getting everything done so all info can be submitted to insurance for approval.  I believe we only have 1 more month of food diaries and exercise logs to submit and 1 more support group meeting before surgery.  I'm hoping for a surgery date in October.

Thats wonderful. I bet its nice to have someone so close to go through the process with. My DH is overweight, but not long enough, hehe. He gained mostly once we got married and he had someone cooking his meals for him, hehe. Once I am able to start eating normal again I am hoping the foods I cook will help him in losing some weight that I helped him gain. Best of Luck.

Congrats!  It does seem like we're a definite minority here but that's ok!  I was banded June 9th and have had a very good recovery!  What I love most is that I am still able to eat almost anything but that my portions are severely controlled.  I still try to make the best choices I can regarding proteins, carbs, etc. but I don't feel like I'm closed off from anything.

Glad you asked for fellow bandsters!  Can't wait to hear from some more.

Hi Melissa, I'm Rachel. I was banded on August 1st. I'm 4 days out and feeling pretty good. We have the same Doctor. I have been searching these blogs alot looking for answers to a couple questions with no luck. My first is.... were you feeling hungry at this point? I'm on the liquids phase with three protein shakes per day and a couple snacks which consist of V8 juice or 100% fruit juice. I have jello and pudding made also. But, I am feeling hungry probably about 30 minutes after each. Am I going to starve all month?  Are you hungry at all? And the second thing is.... Did you see Dr. Hart before or after your procedure? I did not see him at all. As a matter of fact I only met the guy one time 10 days post op to sign papers. I am actually going through a company called True Results that contracts Dr. Hart. But still......He could have said Hi to me on the day of surgery. Talk about feeling like a number. I guess I was his first of the day and he had five or six after me. I feel kind of strange about that. What was your experience?

Hey Rachel. Yes, I was hungry. Thought something was wrong with me because everyone else was talking about how they werent even hungry and all that stuff. Thing is, some people swell worse then others as well as the swelling goes down at different rates for different people. How much broth are you drinking? I drink about 6 oz. for each meal. Protein shake in between meals as well as pudding, jello, popsicles as I feel hungry. Its been working out pretty good. I have 6 more days before I got on full liquids and can have oatmeal and that sort of stuff.  I actually went with True Results too. I did see him before for a few minutes as well as after. He came after to see how I was doing, but I was out of it and just said "FINE", lol. I too was the first of the day. He may have came and saw you afterwards and you just dont remember, maybe? There having a support group meeting later this month, are you going to goto it? How long are you on liquids?

Hey Melissa,
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that is hungry. I havn't had any broth yet. I think I may go sautee up some onion, carrot, and celery in a little olive oil, and add some fresh seasonings to chicken broth then strain it, so its not so bland. Have you tried anything like that yet. I love to cook so will be beginning a whole new welcome way of trying things. I am drinking anywhere from 4 to 12 ounces of fluid at a time, and started on apple sauce and soy yogurt last night. I definately think the little more solid foods keep me full longer. Go figure. I am about three days behind you on the full liquids. You had surgery on Tuesday (I think) and I had it on Friday. Are you back to work yet? I go back on Friday. I gave myself one week, I hope it is enough, although I feel really good. My husband and I even took a fourty minute walk last night. I also went to a support group meating at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell yesterday. I truly enjoyed it, and it was close to home for me. Yes I plan on attending the True Results Support group also. My guess is that I will probably just be attending the Norh Fulton one because of logistics, who knows tho. At least at T.R.'s everyone will be banders, so maybe a little more informative for me. When is that group anyways, I can't remember? It's so nice to talk to someone in the same boat. As far as Dr. Hart goes..... he surgically did an amazing job, as I said, I feel pretty darn good. I'm down twenty pounds sice pre-diet and surgery. I think being 33 helps my body heal a little faster than if I was older. You look quite young also I might ad... so hopefully you are feeling the same effects. Have you been able to find any support groups in your neighborhood?
