Thyroid Issues

Good Monday Everyone!

I sailed through my weekend looking so forward to today!

This what's been going on......(alot of the major details are in my profile, feel free to read that novel anytime lol)  I had my thyroid removed last July, it wasnt until November that they leveled out and my doc ok'd me to proceed with WLS.  Then issues with insurance.  Well now, I have awesome insurance through my husband and really stoked and full steam ahead toward getting my date scheduled!

This past friday I had my levels tested at the PCP, needed them to be updated to send to Dr. William's office.  My PCP"s office calls and says "Come In TODAY"  well holy crap!  She wouldnt say why, and no pleading, poking  nor proding would get it out of her, and I was shaking in my shoes.  If it was cause my levels were off, ok, deal with it, get them right....QUICKLY

I cried for two hours, worrying myself sick up until my appointment.  Once I saw my PCP (Dr. Krishna in Dahlonega GA is wonderful!!)  she made me relax and explained that my levels were WAY off, and knowing my excitement of how fast this was going along she wanted to do my labs over.  It seems my levels should be around 4.....and mine were 43!!!!  oh lord and how you ask?  ::shruggs:: I dunno.....so Im having the labs done again this friday, WE are hoping the labs are wrong, but if not then she is going to put me on synthroid and NOT generic and re-do my labs in 3 weeks.  Awesome either way..........

Needless to say, Im disappointed in the results and the more waiting I have to do but I know it will all come out in the wash as I too will be part of the losing side in the VERY near future.  (( <~~~~~ thats me doing a happy dance!!!)

I need to relax I know, everything is falling into place, everything is wonderful otherwise, I'm just unhealthy well ready to do what it takes to fix that.

I do have a question for anyone who has had thyroid issues tho.  I heard through a nurse friend of a friend, that you can help replace these hormones you lose when you thyroid is removed, through some FOODS, has anyone heard this as well?

Thx for visiting, and ya'll take care!

This site has been wonderful!  I have around 9 people from home (VA) who have had the WLS and we speak and converse and support each other but this is a refreshing add to the mix!

Everything will be okay I'm sure just do as the doctor tells you. I'm not knowledgeable about thyroid disease at all though.
Find something else to keep your mind busy. I find if I get away from the computer and scrapbook or make jewelry it makes me feel better and keeps my mind off my problems. I also take one good nap during the day because I don't sleep well at night and this might help you if you are in the situation where you can do this during the day. Just suggestions of course.
Best of luck,
Sherie

I had mine removed in 2002, and it took forever to get them right.  I had to be tested every few months and about a year later I was on track.  Since I have had my surgery I have had them tested regularly as well and we keep adjusting my synthroid levels.  It's hard, but a few weeks won't hurt, and it's much easier to have your levels where they should be before the surgery so you know you are starting off where you should and then you can adjust as you lose weight.

Good luck.
