One week post-op and still full of fluids
Hi everyone,
I had my surgery last Monday (6/30) and everything went very well. I've been home since Thursday (7/3) and of course still pretty stiff and sore, but otherwise okay. But I am pretty full of fluids still. Is this pretty normal that first week or two? I was on a BP pill that was also a diuretic, but the surgeon took me off of it during my recovery, so I am not sure if that has something to do with why my body's hanging on to the fluids or if it's just a normal thing. It's kind of frustrating because of course I'd love to see some lower numbers on that scale, but I just keep reminding myself I'm only a week out. Did anyone else have this issue? I'm honestly pretty surgery-ignorant; this is the first surgery I've ever had. Maybe it's something that happens in general with surgery? Anyway, any guidance or help would be appreciated, thanks :)

Kelly, Please do not rush anything. Things will start happening soon and you will OK. It was about 6 weeks before I started seeing anything happening for myself. But boy when it did it really started droping really fast, so fast that my PCP was a little concered. But I was really happy.
So please just keep doing what the DOCTOR ORDERED, and you will be OK.

Thanks for the feedback, Jeannie. I'm following doc's orders to the letter, of course. I was just wondering if this was something that others who were post-op had struggled with as well. I guess I'm just anxious to get on with the business of becoming a big loser because it's taken me so long to get to this point. I'm glad to know it's not uncommon and that it might take a few weeks before my body's back on track again.
Kelly,
It does take a little time, because your body has to get adjusted to what has happened. Yes! it is common that it will take a few weeks. But look the main key is do not , do not use a scale each and everyday. I waited about three months and I was really shocked to see how much was gone.
