I was curious if anyone with Aetna that does cover the Dietitian / Nutritionist has found one in GA that will take it.  I am hoping to work with Dr hart's office and I have heard that the Dietitian / Nutritionist and the psych people are in office but I do not know their names and I have trouble finding a web site for Dr hart's practice that lists support staff.  Any ideas? Have any of you used them?

Hubby and I have Aetna HMO and we've seen one at Dekalb Med Ctr.  Our insurance requires us to see her a total of 3 times.  Our problem is she works part-time 3 partial days a week and we are finding it difficult to juggle our schedules at work to match her hours.  It's not always easy to get time off from work when we need it.

Dr. Hart does have a nutritionist in his office and if you call them they will let you know how much the cost is.  For pscyh I used Gary Santavicca, he was referred by Dr. Hart's office.  His office is in Atlanta and it was covered by my Aetna plan.  I have the same plan as you.  I used the nutritionist in the office and my cost was $50, that nutritionist didn't take Aetna.  I am not sure if the new one does or not.  Atlantabariatrics.com is the website for their office.  Also, Emory Johns Creek has a good support group system that the office can tell you about also.  Hope this helps.

www.atlantabariatrics.com The NUT is Rachel and her visits are not covered by insurance.  It's $50 The psychs are not in-house, but they will give you a list of about 4 that work with them in your package.  I  used Dr. Moscovih

I looked for those Dr's on my plan and they aren't covered.  I have yet to from a psych to help me.  I guess I will wait til I go to seminar and get all the info.  I have also contacted the companies who I have gone to for weight loss and and trying to get hard copies of the records to show I tried.  What else would be good to have before I try anything?  If I go into the consult empty handed, will that be bad?  In a perfect world I would find someone who had all the exact coverage I do so I could get a play by play of what is gonad happen!  Lola. Is there any books you guy would recommend I read before I go to the seminar?  Or should I wait?  Any input would be great!

It's great to be proactive and all, but honey calm down!  If you haven't even been to the seminar yet, you're kind of spinning your wheels.  They will give you an information pack when you get there.  You don't need to have anything for your consult.  You will litterally meet with the dr to discuss which surgery you want and which would be best.  He'll look at your belly and that's really about it.  At that point you start all the paperwork and LaTonya can tell you what you need.  You should also be able to pull the bariatric policy off of your insurers website.  You can search your plan name on this site and probably find members who have the same coverage and either read their blogs or contact them for their story.  That's what I did.  I was approved through BCBS and Aetna and had no problems with either.

I also have Aetna Open Acess POS but no Nut coverage.  I went to Northside Hospital for the nutritional counseling and since I didn't have ins that covered it they gave me a 40% discount which made it affordable, I think close to $110 for all 3 visits.  I save Dr. Gary Santavicca for the psych and he was awesome and covered by my policy. Just a heads up, in Feb Aetna changed their WLS policy so if you don't have a comorbidity then you have to have a BMI of 40+ for 2 years, some Dr.s offices aren't up to date on this, it used to be 35+ for 5 years.  I was covered but now I am not so I am doing it self pay.

Oh really?  I have not seen the 2 years part of the policy.  When i was trying for this before i was seeing a nutritionist for the 6 months and she recorded my bmi everytime.  that was back in 2005.  do you think that would be good enough or does it need to be from my medical dr?  I was also seeing a dr at the time to record but havent been able to find him.
