GREAT MACON, GA RESTAURANT!!!!
If you live in Middle Georgia you have to go to "The Back Burner" in Macon, GA.
My husband and I went out for our first nice, elegant dinner last friday night. (I'm 3 months post-op.) We sat down and as I began to read the menu I started to cry. The food sounded great but there was only one thing on the menu I could eat (a grilled chicken dish that ws $19). I couldn't justify ordering an entree knowing that I could only eat 4-5 bites. My husband came up with a great solution. We'd split on of the nightly specials (surf and turf, filet and lobster tail).
When he ordered he told the waiter, Brian, that I had recently had gastric bypass and that we would like to share the entree, could he bring a small side dish for me. Well, imagine my surprise when he delivered the dish and there were 2 plates. The chef had cut the filet and lobster tail in 2 so I could have my own plate. It was the most wonderful thing I've experienced since attempting to eat in restaurants since surgery.
Usually I get stares and odd looks when I share my husband's meal. It's uncomfortable and embarrassing. Why should we be singled out because we had surgery and are trying to improve our health? I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting really tired of the stared.
The food was amazing (I had the lobster), the service was exceptional, and it had to be one of the best meals I've had since surgery.
So if you're in the Macon area and are looking for a great meal, visit "The Back Burner" in the Vineville section of Macon. You won't regret it!
