I'm sooo lost!  I've been here a few times here and there, but just can't figure out how to spruce up my profile, let alone add my ticker(even after reading the notes of how to). So...I have tons of questions on how to do my page...but I also have TONS of other questions!! My wls date is May 27th (7days!).  How long before I'm able to actually move around and do stuff on my own?   Hubby is thinking of taking the boys to see his folks....think I'll be able to stay home for 5 days on my own , 5 days after the surgery? How about a shower??  or will I be needing sponge baths? What is an angel?  I've seen someone ask about one...but what is it?? Anyone around Valdosta Area??   I'll stop there for now...but PLEASE help!!!

I noticed your post and although Im new here well sorta I'll try and help with some things.  OK you guys out there you need to try and help ms Carol.    Angel is someone that checks in on you in hospital and keeps everyone posted usually someone close to you.   Past that not sure. A helper I guess.  As far as you staying at home for 5 days alone.. Just my opinion... I'd say heck no!  Just in case you know!  Again just my opinrobably depend on the type of surgery.. I'd ask your DR.  As far as help with your sprusing... well I cant help you there. I'd like a meter thingey too.. anyone wanna help us figure it out?? Good luck on your date!!! May God bless you.  Ginger

As far as the ticker, once you have created it, go to your profile page and edit your introduction. Once that is open for editing, copy and past the ticker in there! If you want it in your signiture, same thing, copy and paste! You can always go to the help page and ask them what to do, they will get back to you quickly!

Okay, take a deep breath. You'll have to walk in the hospital, usually the night of surgery.  I had lap RNY and had to make a lap of the floor before I could sleep for the night.  Once your catheter is out you'll be expected to get up to go to the bathroom and to walk daily in the hospital. Having the house to yourself is good, but you are going to want someone with you.  Depending on the method (laproscopic or open) you'll need some help during the first week or so.  Even if it's just for moral support.  My doc wanted me walking as much as possible as soon as I got home. Showering is fine.  You'll just want to make sure that you dry your bandages well.  You'll be tired so get your shower when you feel your best. Think of an angel as a just that, a guardian angel who's there to answer your questions and support you.  There are lots of people on this site that will be a shoulder to lean on.  Build up your friends and email them whenever you have a question, feel a freak-out coming on, or to help settle the butterflies as you get closer to your surgery date. Good luck and email me if you have any questions or are freaking-out.  (I think I emailed by buddies hourly the closer I got to my surgery date.  LOL) Dana
