Good Luck Today!!

It took about a week and a half to get approved. Submitted to insurance on April 16 and approved on April 28th! That was after having all the stuff needed before submission completed of course. I have United Healthcare. They have been awesome to work with. Dr Hart is the best! Tell me how your meeting goes! 6 days....... woot!

I hope you had a great first visit with Dr. Hart and that you were as impressed with him as you were with his office staff. I can't wait to hear how your experience went. Speaking first handed I can honestly say I would not look any further for myself. But then I have to stop and realize that we are all different. All of our opinions are not the same and we do not see each individual in the same light as the next person may. I do hope that whatever impression that his office and he made were great and will leave a lasting impression on you. Good Luck on your journey.

I can not begin to tell you how impressed I was with him and his staff.  They were very nice and I felt at ease immeadiatly!  I have heard that Dr Hart had a rough bed side mannor... That could not be further from the truth!!!!  He was so patient and very very pleasant.  There was something about him that made me feel comfortable from the begining he walked in the door unlike many other drs Ive met in the past!!   I have decided to go with RNY based on our conversation.  I am on my way.  I also had my phsy eval today so hopefully they wont determain that I am crazy.. LOL   I do know that there was some stupid questions and at the end of it I was sooo over it. LOL

Another Dr. Hart patient here! So glad I found this thread! Unfortunately, I won't have the luxury of filing through insurance, as my stupid state health won't cover it. However, I know this is what I need to do for ME, so I shall self-pay. At least I kept HOPE through college and don't have student loans to deal with. Anyway, I absolutely love Dr. Hart! I've only seen him once for my initial appointment, however he won tons of points w/ me because of his thorough explanations and that he didn't make me redo my upper GI from a year ago. All I had to do testing wise for him was get my bloodwork done and get the psyc. eval/clearance. I made him laugh when I came prepared with copies of ALL the tests that I'd had done (already paperclipped and sticky-noted w/ what they were) in a notebook. Ginger, I think I was at the seminar when you were :) It's so crazy to think that on April 27, I'd called to get added to the seminar, and now I'm virtually at the finish line as far as getting all the pre-op stuff done. I'm hoping that I'll get my surgery date early this week- I have to call them on Tuesday to let them know I have the approval letter from my PCP in my possession. Maybe if I beg I can get it out of them then :-p Goodness, it's so nice to have this thread :)

Amanda, I am glad that you got to see the side to Dr. Hart that I see. So many of his patients say that he has no sense of humor and that they find him to be dry. From the first time I met him I saw a good sense of humor and a man who is dedicated to making his patient feel at ease with him while yet giving them the best medical attention that can be found. I will say that his office staff are very proficient and will work quickly to secure you a surgery date. I know from the time that I found out that I was approved I only had to wait a couple of weeks before my surgery. It all happened so quickly. I was estatic that it all came together so rapidly. But I have to say that I did push for the earliest date...In fact I asked for one a week earlier than I got but that could not happen because of needing to do all the pre-ops. Plus living over 3 hours did not help the situation. Finding Dr. Hart was a blessing for me. I pray that your surgery date comes quickly for you and that you do well. Please let me know how things go for you.

Patrice, I'll be sure to let you know how I'm progressing :) These next 2 days are going to be torture, I'm sure. Goodness, I get so impatient when I'm excited :)

I meant to ask you all Hart/Johnson people... what do they do with drains? I feel pretty comfortable with everything that's going to happen. However... the only thing that makes me at all nervous is the drain. (Silly?) How many are there? How long do they stay? How bad to the drains themselves hurt? How bad does it hurt to get the drain removed? Can you tell the drain is kind of freaking me out????? Amanda
