Hi all, I had my surgery on 2/25 with DR. Hobson who I absolutely love.  Have had my share of ups and downs with the office during and after this process and also with Atlanta Medical center.  Would love to hear what others who have used a surgeon withthis group have seen as their personal experience.  Ihave a friend looking for a doctor and although I love my surgeon, I can't decide whether or not I feel I should reccommend this practice or not. Just curious.... what do you think of the office?  Before surgery, during, after? How about the staff? How did you feel about your surgeon? Atlanta Medical Center esperience? Would you recommend a friend yourself? Just wondering what other's have experienced. Thanks for sharing yours!

I just LOVE Dr. Hobson. He did mine on April 28th. You wouldn't believe how wonderful my stomach looks. He glued each tiny incision, and now you can hardly even see where they were. It almost looks like mosquito bites healing up. It is amazing. He was on time for EVERYTHING. I didn't have any delays for my endo or surgery. He was THERE!!!

The office staff now is SPECTACULAR. While I was getting everything done, it was another story. My surgical coordinator made me want to pull out my hair. She really needs lessons in customer service. Sometimes all it takes is giving someone 2 minutes of your time and they will be happy. NOT WITH THIS ONE. She couldn't do the tiniest thing unless it was totally initiated by her. In other words, if you called with a question, she couldn't answer it because either my file wasn't in front of her, she was busy or she was away from her desk. The day I got my approval letter, I was so excited....I called up there ready to schedule it. She said she was too busy doing pre-certs to schedule it. She would have to call me back. I called a little later....got the same answer. She promised she would call before the end of the day. It didn't happen. She didn't call. She finally called the next day very matter of factly and gave me all of my dates. THANK GOD I do not ever have to deal with her again!!!!!!

I have had no problems out of AMC either. Everyone was very nice and helpful.

I would definitely recommend a friend. At least I would be able to explain to them that Dr. Hobson is definitely worth the hastle of dealing with the surgical coordinator.

Like I said, the rest of the staff is friendly, helpful and very energetic.

I hope this helped you.

does that certain surgical coordinator's name rhyme with mojita?  =) I had the same experience,  then the other day when I was in th eoffice, I was waiting in the waiting room to be called and there were two women working the front desk/taking calls.  Not only was I not greeted in any way by them.  The whole time I sat there- 30 minutes, I listened as they took calls from patients asking questions (getting info about surgery/seminar/etc) and not only were they short and inpatient with all of them,  they made fun of the callers to one another afterwards.   I honestly can't believe how unprofessional the office staff in general has been.  Susan and the surgeons are great though,  so I suppose it's worth it.  Definitely could use some CS training over there though. I actually had a hell of a time with the hospital when I had both my scope and my surgery. My scope was 8 hours behind because of an equipment malfunction and they were not equipped to handle the delay at all.  Then I never saw Dr. H after surgery and actually never saw a doctor at all afterwards.  Couldn't get meds that were ordered in my chart.  Had to actually call the office and have them send someone over to the tower to straighten things out.  Nurses were rude and my room was a mess,  bed was broken and call button/phone didn't work.  I had to walk to the nurse's station after surgery anytime I needed someone. That said, I've been readmitted twice since surgery and both times, had a positive experience on the same unit. My incisions are also beautiful. I have stretch marks from weight gain/pregnancy that look far worse that the surgery incisions!  I had the same mosquito bite analogy in my mind =)

OMG. I can't believe the girls in the front were acting that way. I have been to the office 4 times and always had a pleasant experience. WOW. Unbelieable. And as far as AMC goes...the care is only as good as the nurses that care for you. I really loved my nurses and they were very good to me. I also got a visit several times by doctors that work for Dr. Hobson. I had my pain meds right on time. It is amazing how experiences can be so different. I hate to hear how awful yours was. Like I said, Dr. Hobson was actually waiting on me for the endo and the surgery. He was ready before the nurses had me ready. There was no time to even get nervous.

I'm glad you had 2 better experiences.

Hi Cyndi, did you have to pay for the physican assistance? You know the doctors that assist in your surgery? The doctor that I am seeing assistance are not contracted with my insurance so they want me to pay for the physican assistance fees. Etoria

Well, I haven't gotten all of my bills yet, however, I don't believe that would be legal if I went to them for surgery and they invited someone in that I would have to pay myself without full disclosure. If they are telling you this upfront, then I would change doctors. I do know there are assistants that work for Dr. Hobson and they came and checked on me in the hospital, however, they WORK for Peachtree Bariatrics and Peachtree Bariatrics is covered by my insurance. You really need to check on that. That just doesn't seem right. I would get them to clarify that for you and if it is indeed what they are saying, I would call my insurance company and talk to them about it and get their opinion.

What is your surgical coordinator's name...does it start with a J????? hahaha. Sounds just like my coordinator. That was the ONLY bad experience I had.....OMG. But, the surgeon is worth it.

Congrats girl.....Hang in there, jump through the hoops. It will be worth it I promise.

so we've established here that both surgical coordinators (one whose name starts with 'J' AND the one whose name rhymes with 'Mojita') are rude and tend to blow people off.   I ended up speaking with Shona,  the office manager during my approval process and had to get very ..ahem..firm.... but was able to get some better results that way.

I FEEL your frustration.  been there myself.  My advice is to call Shona Braden,  the office manager.  Explain your frustrations and she should be able to get you some answers and at the very least get that letter mailed to you again.   I'm curious... I didn't have to have a phys eval or meet with Keva or anyone.  It seems in talking to ppl at the support groups that this practice asks people to jump through different/random hoops.   CyndiLee's right... you just gotta jump when they say to, and it WILL be worth it,  but it seems odd that they are not very consistent here...
