Hey. My insurance was Aetna PPO. Have you gone to the Aetna site and looked at the criteria?

You said you had submitted all of your stuff to the surgeon, what does that include?

I know I was required to have a 6 month diet with monthly visits to the doctor. I also had to have nutritionist consultations and behavior modifications. I also had to have a million other things but this was the thing that took so long to get accomplished.

Let me know what you have already completed and then maybe I can help you get organized and complete the rest.

Thanks for the quick response.  Yes, I did go to the Aetna website and i has the 2 sections, It says if I have co-morbities, which I do and BMI 40 or higher it would be the 3 mos diet & exercise.  I submitted the big packet you get from the seminar with a picture.   I called Aetna they say told me that they already gave the pre-certification number to the doctors office, Peachree Bariatrics, I calld talked to Jackey and she told me they sent ou the letter indication which letters of clearance I would need from each doctor, she told me they mailed on on May 5th. She was also too busy to tell me if they required 3mos or 6mos of nutritional education states the letter would tell me. So far I have made an appointment wihh my PCP to at least statrt the paperwork and ge the blood work going. So no approval just a pre-certification.

I have aetna also but you are much further than I am.  I have my first appt on Thursday to meet the dr to get started.  I am somewhat overwhelmed by the whole process.  I do have a quesiton.  Is Peachtree Bariatrics in-network? I am using Dr Hart well I hope and he is in network at 80 %.  I started my process with another dr and was giving the run around but found they were not in network and figurted maybe that was why they werent overly helpful.   You are exactly right with the two sections. Thats the way I understand it as well.    Good luck!!  Keep us posted!!

Yes, Peachtress Bariatrics is n the network.  Dr titus Dunca/Dr Hobson & Dr Rashid. They have a seminar everymonth and you can get your packet, meet the Dr's as well.  4 people from work used them as so far so good, no complants.

MY BMI was 56.2 so I only had to do the 3 months supervised diet/nut visits for approval.  My doctors office gave me a list of all the doctors I would need to see....did monthly calendars and visits to track diet progress and then submitted.  Once everything was submitted I had approval in a couple weeks.

My husband and I have had our first visit with our Dr.   We go to our 1st support group mtg this Thurs.   We have Aetna HMO.   Hopefully the process will go smooth and quickly.  I  am looking forward to having the lapband procedure done.  Our Dr thinks/hopes we will be able to have it done in August.  He did say some insurance companies require a 6 month wait.
