Years ago I looked into rny and was leaning toward Dr Champion in ATL.  I went to one of his seminars but his partner at the time was there Dr Williams.  I really liked him alot he was very polite and answered all of my questions.  Again this has been years ago.  My insurance would not cover the surgery and after a period of time gave up.  My husbands company sold and was an  insurance change in Jan and now they are telling me that they will approve it if I can meet certain criteria.    I am wondering if any of you have experience with either of these drs.   I really need someone that will alos do everyting they can to help me get my paperwork in order as I believe I have alot of hoops to jump through.   Anyone have any advice! Thanks!

What is the name of the Doctor that you are going to use? I know that most of them want you to have all of your blood work and Carto, Phsy. Some even require that you attend some support meeting and have a paper signed. They really want you to understand that you are making a very inportant dission in your life. Because there is a lot of life changes ahead. If you have any other question I will try and helo you in anyway that I can. Hug's Jeannie  OH Support leader

I really am not sure which one to use. Was hoping to get some feed back here.  I realize ther is alot to do.  When I choose a dr. Will they direct me ordo I just start doing things myself that I know needs to be done?  Excited but overwhelmed

Ginger, My surgeon is Dr Williams, and I would do it over in a heart beat with him (if I had to).  Absolutely wonderful !!! I did develop one complication 10 months post op...partially blocked bowel obstruction.  The obstruction was scar tissue which can happen to anyone at anytime, so that is just a fact of life.  At the time that I was admitted to the hospital for surgery, Dr Champion was on call.  He happened to be at the hospital when I was in the ER, came by to see me then and the next morning, and he was great too...  Dr Williams did do my surgery that afternoon to remove the scar tissue.  Complication free since then. That is great to hear.  I do wonder why they are not in practice together anymore.  Maybe Im just looking for problems.. dont mean to be just trying to make the right decision. After selecting a surgeon what next?

I came home from the hospital yesterday and Dr. Champion was my doctor.  He did a great job and I think his staff is wonderful.  I was self pay because my insurance changed and the new company wouldn't cover it.  I already had the mind set so we went ahead.  Dr Champion has a staff member who only focuses on working with your insurance company.  When I was in preop, I spoke to another women that had Aetna and Dr Champions staff made it very easy for her.  It took a couple of months for approval but she didn't have any issues.  I hope this helps.

You may want to check out Dr. Dennis Smith in Marietta, as well, since he is so close.  He has an excellent reputation and you can read his reviews on this site, as well...
