support group in columbus, ga

I'm new to the site and don't even know if I'm posting in the correct spot but I need help finding a support group in my area. I'm having my surgery (no date yet) in Birmingham, AL but that is 3 hours away from me. My surgeon wants me to attend support groups but I don't really want to make the 3 hour trek there. I live in Phenix City, AL which is on the state line with Columbus, GA. If anyone has anything close to there, I would appreciate the help. Thanks

Hi!  Someone wrote in a few weeks ago looking for a group in the Ft. Benning area.  I don't think anyone ever reported any local groups, so not sure if any exist or not.   I'm in Lanett, AL, so I'm not too far from you.   Although I haven't had surgery yet - still just looking.  Thinking of the DS, hopefully eventually in Atlanta area. Yes, there is a support group in Columbus, GA. E-mail me and I will forward you the info on their yahoo group. It's held at St. Francis Women's center...usually. It's on the corner of Woodruff and Warm Springs....maybe the second Thursday? I'll double check. We've been a few times, but my husband works out of town half the year...and he's just finishing up his out of town time...so it's been awhile.
