UPDATE ON PRAY FOR APPROVAL

I called today to get a status on my file with Aetna......I AM APPROVED!!!!!!!!    Now all I need is a date.....

Do you have Aetna HMO? I have that too and I am submitting for insurance this week!

How long did it take to be approved and how far do they schedule the surgeries out?

Let me tell you....this is when I got so frustrated.  I called 1 day after I confirmed that Aetna had my package and I was approved.  They said I was approved the same day they looked at it....yippeee.  So, I called Jackey all excited because they gave me the approval number and said that is all I needed.  They did say they were mailing letters but that should suffice to schedule surgery.  I called Jackey and as usual.....pop goes my balloon.  She informs me that they can't schedule anything until I have the letter.....so.....I wait for my letter.  I get it on Saturday.  I am so excited I can't stand it.  I went ahead and scanned it and e-mailed it AND faxed it to Jackey.  I am on pins and needles Monday morning waiting for the office to open so I can get my "dates".....I talked to her THREE times on Monday and she was too busy to schedule the appointments.  She would call me back BEFORE the close of business.....Needless to say, 5:00 came and went.  She didn't call me.  I had decided that I was NOT calling HER on Tuesday.  I was calling her boss.  Well, at 8:45 am before the office even opened she called me.  She very curtly gave me all of my dates.  I meet Dr. Hobson on the 15th, I have my pre-op on the 22nd, my endoscopy on the 24th and my surgery on the 28th.  So...I have 2 weeks and 5 days left.  I am so glad I don't ever have to deal with her again.  Aetna was great though....If you have everything documented and all of your letters, it should be great.  I do have to say that Jackey did submit all of my stuff correctly and that is very GREAT!!!

Good morning Cyndi, I was thinking about doing the same thing. The doctor where I go, I don't think that my paperwork was looked at prior to being submitted. My paperwork was submitted 1/18/08 and the office manager who submitted it just went with the information that she had when I first had my appointment in November 2007. She did not call to verify my insurance for 2008 therefore I go denied for not going one step more which is I need to have diet and excersie supervision for 3 months that had changed in my policy for 2008. So not I am going on my 2nd month of this and the nurse at my insurance company told me that we can appeal the decision with the letter from my doctor showing that I went through this step as they requested. I really thought that was messed up. So After my appointment with my doctor on the 30th I am going to make an appointment with my surgeon and let him know that I need all my paper work looked at before submitted the appeal this time. I even notice something as simple as my date of birth was correct but my age was wrong typo's. Anywho! I very happyy for you, keep us posted as to when you go in and how you are doing.
