What is your surgeon like?? (Duncan, Williams, Daly?!)

I haven't had surgery yet but I am going through Dr Hart @ Atlanta Bariatrics The staff there has been wonderful :) www.atlantabariatrics.com

Hi, I am going through Dr. D off ice to have the lap-band surgery. I noticed they put piedmont fayette as my hospital. Maybe they are starting to use different hospitals.  After hearing bout how old the Atlanta hospital is, thank God, I mean really Thank my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I had Dr Hobson from Dr Duncans office.  I do not think there is another surgeon I would have gone with.  I am currently in Dallas, Tx... Relocating back home in 1mth.  I tried looking for a Dr for follow up on my own but had no luck.  I called Dr Duncans office asked to leave a message for Dr Hobson and he called me back that same day.  He refered me to a friend of his Dr Thrift.  I had no problems.  He saw me that very same week. Dr Hobson is the best in my opinion.  I am like all the others, I cannot say enough good things about him.  His staff from what I understand are going through new process and changes.  Kristen is the nutritionalist (if still the same) drills the diet into you so you do not fail.  It is for your best.  They to me are very professional and you get the results you look for.

Thank you for responding. Kirsten is no longer there. Susan, who is post op and a bariatric nurse does the consult, with much to be desired actually. I liked her don't get me wrong, I just never got that diet drilled into me. I am still considering Dr. Hobson because of his talent, but I am doing my due dilligence to be sure I get all the tools necessary to succeed.

I had a different surgery type but Dr. Donald Maynard did my surgery....and last month when I was in pain I called his office and they were awesome...turns out I had a hernia, he had me moved from Northside...and even did the surgery himself because I felt comfortable with him....then his staff called me almost daily to make sure I was doing better after....I would trust that man with my life...wait I did twice.

 Dr. Dennis Smith in Marietta did my surgery.  Dr. Smith's office staff is very nice and understanding and answered all of my questions!  They never made me feel like I was bothering them, etc.  I've lost 73 pounds since my surgery which was Sept 11, 2007.... and I finally have my life back.  Dr Smith is sort of quiet but let me tell you... he truly cares about his patients!  I've had my fair share of doctors and I truly believe he is one of the BEST!!!  He was at the hospital with me morning and night after surgery and just truly cares about his patients!   For those of you still considering WLS... don't forget about Dr. Dennis Smith.  He, in my opinion, is the best!!!  My paperwork went to the insurance company on a FRIDAY and my insurance approved it by the following WEDNESDAY.  I had a surgery date with in two weeks of my approval!  Absolutely fantascitic in doing what they need to do to ensure surgery is approved in fast manner...THE FIRST TIME! I used Daly, although he's fairly cold, he's an excellent surgeon.  I was a high risk patient, turned down by Duncan twice and Emory once.  Dr. Daly reviewed my medical history and told me that he monitors his patients much closer than other surgeons.  Plus I had 4 cousins come down from Chattanooga and he did their surgery years ago and I was able to see how they progressed.

My husband and I had lapband the same day. Dr. Rashid is the BEST! We have been so pleased with everything. The paperwork is a pain, but I'm grateful we have insurance so I won't complain...too much. AMC isn't new and fancy, but they've been good to us.  I had a complication a week after surgery. We live about 2 hrs away so after driving to the Drs. and having them want to have an MRI immediately...being  able to have them take me across the street, do the MRI, call my Dr. etc was sooo worth it. At my last visit, I was having some wierd back pain after throwing up...so Dr. Rashid sent me across the street for an upper GI...at 4:00 pm They squeezed me in, called Dr. Rashid right after the test to tell her all looked great and I was able to walk back and have a fill before they closed at 5:00.  Feel free to e-mail if you have any questions.
