Pregnancy after By Pass

Hey all, My name is Krissy.  I had my by pass surgery on Feb 6 2007.  I am now 9 weeks pregnant and tickled to death.  Anyone in here have a similiar experience?  This is unexpected so I know I kinda broke the 12 - 18 months post surgery rule of getting pregnant....am I now a fertile Myrtle after all this time...LOL Krissy

Hey Krissy... I think you are probably ok.  I had my RNY in 2004 and got pregnant in 2006 and had a perfectly easy pregnancy.  The only trouble I had was with anemia.  So keep up with your iron count.  As far as being fertile, I had a harder time after my surgery than I did before.  I guess my system had gotten used to heavier periods when I was heavy and that made it easier for me to get pregnant.  When I got thinner, my periods went down to 1 maybe 2 days.  I had a lot harder time getting pregnant then.  SO it all depends on your body I think.  Some women are more fertile.  Me, I think I am the exception.
