Help!  I'm trying to find a PCP in Macon that is going to support my WLS decision.  Any suggestions?

Are you willing to travel? My PCP in Warner Robins is awesome! He even treats my thyroid. He believes in running tests often and staying ontop of the results. He was fully supportive of my decision, however, he did convince a friend to wait (but that's mainly because she hasn't reached a "last ditch, this is it, no other option" point. She firmly believes that food adds to the quality of her life and that, without it, life will be less enjoyable.) Anyway, it's Dr. Bagget on Spillers Way.

I believe, you need to go to a PCP that understands the purpose, benefits, and your personal decision for the WLS. My PCP is Dr. Christopher Reeves. He seems to be in agreement about the WLS. All of the other Specialist that I see, send him the reports, so he can monitor any labs or testing that has been done. I live in Macon and would be glad to talk with you concerning Dr. Reeves. My cell no is 478 737 9945, if you would like to talk to me about Dr. Reeves or any other problems with your WLS you are having. Prayers, Love, Nenna (Open RNY 4/2002 wt.loss 131 lbs.  Surgery done in Macon at Coliseum Hosp. Current BMI 21 Would I do again? You betcha,I would! Every 6months if necessary!  The only thing,I would change about my WLS is,I would go to Atlanta!

I know this is kind of late in answering, but my PCP in Macon was fantastic, and I could give him high recommendations. Dr. Jason Woods. I saw him for several years prior to making the decision to have WLS.  He treated my diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid disease, chronic back pain issues, chronic stomach pain issues (which were related to multiple kidney stones or chronic hematuria-blood in urine). Dr. Woods was very instrumental in helping me with whatever I needed to accomplish to make my WLS goals. Now, also keep in mind that I was very proactive in my research and in my own healthcare decisions. I made a list of everything that my insurance required. I gave Dr. Woods a detailed list of whats was required, with dates required by. I made and kept all appointments. And I made sure that everything was documented properly in my medical record. I was probably a pain in the rear patient, but having worked in the medical field for 28 yrs, I know exactly what is required, and I made sure it was followed to a T. Dr. Woods also followed me for 2 yrs post-op. I had my RNY done by Dr. Daly in Atl, and he sent all of my labs and f/u notes to Dr. Woods. I no longer live in Macon, but if I did, I would still be seeing Dr. Jason Woods. P# 478-755-0020. He is downtown. I believe on Poplar. I hope this helps if you haven't already found another PCP Susan

Thanksfor answering.  I started seeing Dr Mary Bell Vaughn after another poster recommended her by telling me that she (the Dr) had several weight loss and wls patients and would be familiar with the process.  I have been twice now, physical was Tuesday, but I am a little wary.  I was up front and told her that in order to have surgery that I needed 6 months medically supervised weight loss, which she made note of, but she has not weighed me on either occasion.  I had to remind her that I was there for weight loss, but no one has wighed me, to which she asked what I weighed and wrote it in my chart.  According to her, she just asks how much you weigh.  When I was checking out, I told the receptionist that I needed to schedule another apptmt for the following and she told me to call when I got ready and they would get me in.??  I also brought in my food jouranl and had to tell her several times that she was supposed to keep that in my records.  I am beginning to believe I made a mistake, which is why was askking for referrals because I did not want to have to go through the time and expense of several doctors.  Of course, the other obstacle is trying to find someone that is covered by my insurance (Cigna).  Sorry for the long reply.
