I've just moved to the Augusta area.  Hubby is stationed at Ft Gordon.  Because I'm under Tricare Prime, there are no surgeons in Augusta for me to go to.  I'm looking at going to Columbia, if I'm approved.  Any information or suggestions would be helpful.

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to say "Welcome to OH and to Georgia." We live near Ft. Benning and the support group we (my husband and I both had lap band done) attend has a bunch of people who have Tricare.  As far as I know,  from them, it will only cover RNY, but I don't know if Navy and Army are the same etc..just sharing what I've heard them say. Good luck and keep us posted :D

Thanks : )  We're enjoying being back in the states.  I don't think it matters what branch of service the sponsor it is.  It will matter what sort of military treatment facility that I go to for the referral.  Since it's an Army base, I'll be under Army regulations.  Historically Tricare hasn't covered the Lap-Band procedure until now.  As of Feb 1, it will be covered.  But I still think I'll be going for the RNY.

Welcome new member............... Congratulations on your decision to have surgery....... MCG in Augusta had a WLS center at one time......not sure if there are still there or if they accept TriCare Best wishes! Tami
