New OH Group forming Atlanta WLS Support

Just wanted to invite those folks who live in or around the Tucker / Norhlake or greater metro Atlanta area to come and check out a new group forming on Obesity Help.  It will offer a chatroom, message board and we hope to also offer local meet & greets with great information and giveaways in the near future. I will be leading the group.  My name is Michael Kay and I am a Lap Band patient from Emory Healthcare.  I have truly enjoyed having my band and learning how to eat properly, incorporate diet and exercise into my daily life.  Of course, I have much to learn and hope that we can create a local community of knowledge and learn from each other as we move into 2008! Welcome Mick,  Hi my name is Jeannie and I'm a leader in Stockbridge, Ga at Henry Medical Center. I want to say that it is really nice to talk with someone else that is Banded. I have a few members that have had the Lap-band, and they have some questions from time to time and I hope that I can come to you and ask you some questions about it. Hi Jeannie- It was nice hearing your voice on the OH Group Leaders conference call last night!  I have been banded since 6-18-07 and have lost 147 lbs since then.  Well, I started diet & exercise the month before surgery to lose weight.   It has been alot of hard work and discipline but worth every single moment! Feel free to contact me at my group or directly.  I'd like to "friend" you and invite you to my group if you don't mind.  You might find some answers posted there as well.  I don't often read the entire GA forum but intend to start trying to. Janis- I am sooooo excited about your surgery!  Just think, pretty soon you'll be on the losing side with the rest of us!  I am a big believer in starting early!  Try to eat smaller meals, eat the way you will need to after surgery.  It's good to practice taking smaller bites, buying healthier foods and thinking about your water & protein intake.  These are skills you'll need to last a lifetime!
