Anyone else passing out?
Please have your heart checked. I was passing out and ended up having to have heart surgery. One doctor said it is genetic the other is convinced it is due to the rapid weight loss and malnutrition. Please get checked out. As far as dealing with it goes...when does it happen most? If it is when you stand up then make sure you stand slowly. Good luck!!

I am only 4 months post op but have been experiencing dizzy spells when I stand after sitting or laying down for a period of time. The dietician said there are 3 main reasons for this, all revolving around low blood pressure:
- dehydrated (64 oz a day)
- low blood sugar
- not enough protein (60-80grams per day)
She said alot of WLS patients try to eliminate carbs/starches from their diets which can cause this issue. By eating lean protein, complex carbs (for sugar) and fresh fruit or veggies at every meal, you decrease the occurance.
Of course this doesn't include any real medical issues you may be experiencing. This was her response to my dizziness. I also met with my PCP who did a full work up and said I was fine. He said my blood pressure dropped from sitting to standing. This could be degydration, low blood sugar or my body getting used to it's new lower weight (dropping 20+ pounds per month).
Hope you figure it out!
Hi,
I am Gina, almost 7 years post op RNY. I went through a similar experience about three years ago with the constant passing out. I went through many diagnostic tests.. including a tilt table test, and EPS. The EPS diagnosed my problem as SVT at the AV node.. very dangerous to have.. if you are a nurse, then you understand what I am saying. I was ablated at the AV node, and have no further episodes of passing out since.
Also, I did have some low blood sugars prior to this, about the time frame you are now in, and found that I could eat three peanut butter crackers, and be just fine until I could eat my lunch, dinner, or drink a protein shake.. I was also working at the time, and it was difficult for me to stay well hydrated due to the job I had and not being allowed to keep water near my duty station at that time.. I did go to my pcp and finally get a note that I must be allowed to have water with me at all times, and that seemed to alleviate that problem.
Do see your doctor, and get checked out thoroughly. Your passing out may be just from dehydration, a low blood pressure, low blood sugar, anemia.. which I also deal with on a constant basis, low protein levels, heart... it could be so many different things.. best to see a physician and get checked out..
Let us know how things go..
Take care
peachy hugs,
