My big debate....

So...my PCP wants to go ahead and set me up with a surgeon...but I know that once I see the surgeon they are going to start getting approval and setting dates and I want to wait till next year for the surgery for several reasons...but part of me says....Go ahead and see the surgeon and start working with his team for the diet and exercise thing...and they should have a scale that goes high enough....and just make it clear to the surgeon that I am not ready to have the surgery yet....which..I mean..they can't force me to have it before I'm ready...but I don't respond well to pressure...then again...if I feel pressured I should look for another surgeon...it's almost like my brain is trying to talk me into this and talk me out of this at the same time!

Heather, Have you checked to see if your insurance will cover WLS??  If it does, sometimes the insurance companies require a 6 month supervised weight loss period of time, before they will approve the surgery.  It would be best to see what your insurance requirements are provided that they will pay for WLS. There are 2 ladies in my office that have had the surgery since they have been working here and they said it was covered based on the doctor saying it was necessary...although..they did change some stuff on the insurance so I should double check on it.

Ok...so I have decided....go ahead...and talk with my doctor on monday (which I have to to anyways because my new insurance company is trying to say my diabetes is pre-exsisting and I have to get proof it's not) and talk with her about a referal for a surgeon...  Thanks to everyone for your advise!

Hi Heather, I have to agree with Faithh, in my opinion, Dr Hobson is the best choice. He is a wonderful doc and has good people manners. I really liked him the very first time I got to meet him. I am so glad now that he did my surgery. I feel great and I am right at 2 months out. Just take it slow and let him know how you feel. He will work with you. Many prayers to you girl and please keep us informed okay? See ya later......Renee

Hi - I went through the surgeon meetings, and insurance approval and everything back in December.  Then I told him I wasn't ready yet.  I was scared when I did more research that I wouldn't be successful with lap-band, then in August I decided to go ahead with it.  My insurance pre-certification came again very easily and my dr scheduled it within days.  Take your time and make the right decision, but going ahead and starting the process won't prevent you from doing that.
