Finding a surgeon

I live in Columbus, Georgia.  Back in August my Dr. discussed with me the idea of having weight loss surgery.  I have been waiting since then to hear a response back from the Dr. in Atlanta because supposedly no one in Columbus does it.  Can anyone give me advise on how long should I continue to wait before I try to find my own surgeon. Help me please.

I hope that this is some help!  There are some really great doctors at Atlanta Medical Center. Their names are Dr. Larry Hobson and Dr. Titus Duncan. Call them and see what all you will need to do. If you have your letter from your doctor in Agusta I think that is all you will need to get things started. Hug's Jeannie

Hello dear, I had my surgery July 9th 07 and I had Dr Larry Hobson to do it and he is a WONDERFUL surgeon!!!! I have to tell ya I really do like him. He literally saved my life. I have not been sick a day yet and have lost 71 pounds as of Monday...and I feel SO GOOD. Life is so different now that I am beginning to be me again. I'm from Macon as well, I had lapband on 08-15.  Dr. Paul Macik done my surgery for me, he is great.  His office is in Peachtree Dunwoody NE, phone # 404-252-2220.

Hi Phyllis, There are days where I feel like I am starving, but as soon as I eat a little something it goes away, Dr Macik's nurse says that lap-band does not cure hunger pain.  I believe it too! It's so nice to finally get to chat w/someone... there is one lady on O/H that is frm Macon...I tried chatting w/her, because being so new to this surgery it would really be nice to talk about the lap-band with someone who is actually expericening the same thing I'm going through, but anyway I guess she didn't want a new friend :( ....so thank you so much for contacting me.  and if I can help with anything please let me know. Hi! I grew up in Columbus and my family is still there, too.  I live in Atlanta and chose Dr JK Champion for my surgery.  I really love his office, the way that I was prepared and supported for the surgery, and his record of having done thousands of WLS...even though he was "out of network" for my insurance, I made the decision anyway based on everything I read about him and other surgeons.  Check out his website and do your research, good luck with your decision!
