Hey!  I recently had RNY on August 22nd at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.  My weight on surgery day was 319 and I look forward to seeing that go down!!  I have battled the bulge all my life and finally after 2 years of debating and insurance that flat out stated it covered NO WEIGHT LOSS surgery or programs I decided to take money out from my 401K.  I figured, what better investment could I make besides myself??  So here I am, 3 weeks later, 20 lbs lighter and look forward to meeting people that can relate and help out.   I am still having alot of soreness on my left side.  Does anyone else experience this?  I am glad to know that I am not the only one that has looked for different recipes for protein shakes and such and can't wait to try some of the things I have read on here...   It's nice to know I'm  not on this journey alone.

Thanks Renee,  I did call and let them know about it and I have an appointment this week.  I appreciate the concern!  I don't have any pain or fever,  it is just sore, especially if I have to sneeze!!! I try very hard to stick to the guidelines because the thought of dumping makes me cringe.  I found myself feeling really good the 2 weeks after my surgery and I was trying to do things like usual.  I guess because I just felt so good.  I tried to go back to work after 2 weeks out and figured out very quickly that I needed a little more time to recoup.  Anyway, thanks for listening and the tips!!

Hi Phyllis, Thanks for the reply.  It just feels good to know that there are other people out there that have experienced the same things and to know how they coped and are coping.  I live in a rural area and there aren't any support groups close by, so I turned to my internet. It has really helped!  Thank goodness for message boards!!  =)

Thanks for the support!!  It is great to have a tool like this.  I try talking to my family and friends, and they try very hard to understand but unless you have gone through it, I don't think you understand.  I have done some research online and the pain on my left side seems to be somewhat common since that is where the major incisions are, so I am feeling optimistic.  I have only lost 20 lbs since my surgery and I wonder am I doing something wrong??  I know everyone is different, but I guess I am still worried about everything going well.  I try to just take it one step at a time.....baby steps...  =)
