Fantastic turnout for first meeting of support group

I had my first weight loss surgery support group meeting tonight in Macon. We had 7 people in attendance, 6 post ops, and one husband. Two of the post ops had surgery in July, and  most of us were at least 3 or more years out.. It was a great and informative meeting.. I had a lot of fun getting to  update with each other.. and getting to know those I didnt know.. I can't wait to have another meeting in 4 weeks, and am hoping to have twice as many attend..  Thanks to those who came, and have a great month. Take care

Thanks Phyllis   I had previous responses from a couple of lap banders and a couple thinking about lap bands, but for whatever reasons, they were not able to come last night. I am hoping that next month  I grow to twice as many.. it was a great meeting.. I would like a variety of surgeries though.. everyone at my meeting had had RNY. Take care 

I hope you have a variety of surgeries also. After the conference I realized we are all taking the same journey on the same road but in different cars. .. We all have to eat a certain way and exercise to get to where we want to go. Good luck and maybe when I come through that way can make the meeting one night. Phyllis

Gina, Hey! Congrats on such a great turnout!  Just want to say how nice it was to meet you, Renee, and Phyllis at the conference!   I have not made it home yet.  Still in Douglasville visiting with my cousin.  Having a blast catching up and holding her new grandbaby.  You guys will not believe it when I tell you that she and I have been riding her 4 wheeler.  A year ago I couldn't have possibly climbed up on that thing!  LOL!  Monday we went up to Helen and we went on a horse and buggy ride.  When we were there a few years ago I could hardly walk much less climb up in that carriage so I sat while the rest of the troop rode the buggy.  Today I climbed up in her jeep and off we went.  Tomorrow we are going to ride the Marta into Atlanta.  Why you may ask???  Just because I can!!! Saturday we are going to Stone Mountain.  Sounds like a lot of walking for a big girl HUH?  I am just grateful to God that he saw fit to bring me through my surgery  and that now I can live my life again instead of sitting on the sidelines!  I'll be heading home back to FL on  Monday.  I hate to go but my husband is kind of missing me a little.  He only exspected me to be gone 3 or 4 days.  Plus I have to go visit my surgeon on Tuesday .  Can't miss that! Hi Kat glad to see you having a great time dear. I know how you feel about doing the 4 wheeler thing, i hope to be able to ride a Harley soon myself. I have so many things I wanna do on my list that I cannot name them all. It was nice to meet you Friday I am so glad that we all got a chance to spend together this weekend. Thank you for offering to take me back to my room saturday. I was not having a good day and it was not my choice but I was okay once I got back to the room. I hope to catch the next meeting and this time I will enjoy all the speakers. Hope you have fun...see you later ....Renee
