Help for a GA educator

I was wandering if there is anyone who has been approved this year or is expected to be approved for bariatric surgery and is under the state of GA insurance? Is there any plan that will approve this procedure? I really need help in getting this procedure and I just can't afford to pay for the total cost out of pocket. Please help!!!

As far as I know there isn't any way to get and of the companies offered under the state plan to pay for it, as it has been specifically expluded since 2005.  I may be wrong, and maybe there is someone out there that has been able to find a way to do it, but from my understanding it isn't possible.  I know how much this sucks, and really seems unfair .  I am looking at having RNY next month, and am having to do it self-pay.  

I'm a GA teacher too but am fortunate enough to have insruance through my husband's company.  I'm having surgery on 8/31.  I have BCBS Federal.  Is it possible that it might be cheaper to buy a policy on your own than pay for the entire costs of the surgery?  Just a thought. Laurel

Errrp. There's no way anyone woulda sold me a policy...I'm even more privately uninsurable than when I was fat... Good luck! I had hubby's ins. too!
