Question about Blood Work

I just received my bloodwork results and I have high cholesterol (209), which I already knew and also have low iron.... will I still be able to get surgery or do I have to wait until the bloodwork is in normal range?

Thanks,

Judy

Hi Judy, I am not an expert on this but I would say that the cholesterol will not be a problem except maybe some extra tests from your cardiologist.  As for the iron, why not start taking a low dose of iron now?   You can ask your surgeon, PCP or nurse.  I don't think it would hurt but they should be asked first.  Good luck and keep us posted about your progress.

Thank you!  I did start taking an iron tablet yesterday (one that the bariatric doctor recommended) and since I haven't been very good about taking my cholesterol medicine... I was sure to take it yesterday and will take it everyday from now on.  I just didn't want to have to wait longer to have surgery due to my cholesterol and iron issues. Thanks for your reply. Judy
