Stay over night or out patient

Just wondering if  Dr Duncan and Dr Steinberg have their patients stay over night or if it's out patient...no complications of course. We've been to Dr. Duncan's info session but forgot to ask and we're scheduled for Dr. Steinberg's in September. After that we'll decide who to use. Feel free to share any other advice, thoughts, etc. Thanks, Shelice

Dont know of any Drs. that do the WLS on an outpatient basis...the reason being the day after surgery, the Dr. needs to make sure that you pass the 'leak test' before you are dismissed.  Did Dr Duncan's office mention this test.  My Surgeon was Dr Michael Williams, and he has you stay in the hospital two nights after surgery before you are discharged. Interesting. I only asked because I was on another board for lap band and a few people talked about going home the samed day as their surgery and it got me thinking. I thought it was at least an overnight stay.

if you are getting RNY i do not think anyone lets you go home that day.  You have to stay at least one night.  now if you are getting a Lap Band i have heard of a few doc's that are doing it to were you can leave that day but i am not sure which ones are doing that.  i would say Duncan would make you stay the night.  but i am not 100% sure on that one Laura

For the lap band Dr Duncan's office sends you home the same day unless your insurance company requires you to stay overnite.

If you are having the RNY by Duncan's office, you will stay overnight.  I do not know if he has his patients stay overnight with the lap band, but I would think he would....but not sure.  Call the office and ask. Cynde
