The Munchies
Hello,
I have found that sometimes we are not really stomach hungry but we are head hungry. So we need to get this under control early on. I am 6 years out now and can eat much more than I could the first few years out. Part of the problem I got up to 400 lbs. was because of the head hungar complulsive eating, and emotional eating. I still have all these thing problems and know that the only way I can keep the weight off is by eating healthy and exercise. We need to learn good habits to fight against the head hungar during the honeymood stage when taking the weight off is much easier. For example, when you want food and you know you are not really hungry and it is not meal time, perhaps take a walk, call a friend, take a bubble bath, go to the gym, whatever makes you happy that does not include food. I know so many people who did not create good habits and 5- 7 years after surgery and sometimes less time than that have put back on a lot of the weight or never lost all the weight they wanted to. It is also very important to go to a support group somewhere.....the accountability and support from others who have gone thru the same thing as you is so helpful. As most of us know......this surgery is not a magic pill.......it is only a tool to help us lose the weight and keep it off........but we have to do the work.........or it will not work for us. Good luck, Ginger
