How much liquid can we drink at once?
Hi Trish,
At first you will be drinking only ONE ounce at a time, every thirty minutes. I found it handy to have a kitchen timer and everytime I drank an ounce I set it for 30 minutes. That way I could get in all my liquids. After a few days you will be up to three ounces every 30 minutes, but no liquids 30 minutes before a meal or 45 minutes after your meal. Again the timer worked well as well as using a marker to mark off every three ounces on a water bottle so I could keep track... gettiing enough but not too much. You will hear that your body can only absorb so much protein at a time but if you are using liquid protein you will only be drinking a little bit every thirty minutes to you shouldn't have any problems. In the beginning I put some kind of protein into my crystal light so I was always getting in some protein. After a few weeks it will become more normal to you and you will be able to drink whatever amount you can tolerate, within reason. Whatever you do, don't try to overfill on liquids at one time. It will only come back up on you. Trust me, it will all make sense once you have your surgery. Good luck. You only have a month to go now!
