I am almost three weeks out.   I have had an upset stomach off and on since Monday.  I have basically been eating a soft diet, but have cut out a few of the things that I think I need including my CIB because I make it with milk.  At this point, I don't even want to drink anything because it will just go right through.  (I am drinking as much water as I can--I don't want to become dehydrated). Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is it something that corrects itself or should I be concerned.

It sounds like you may have become lactose intolerant.  Have you talked with your doctors office or NUT?  For a period of time you should probably avoid all dairy.  You might need to try some of the protein powders you can mix with water or juice.  You also may want to pick up some soy milk to try with your CIB.  Good luck and let us know what the doctor says.

Hey, Pat: My doc was not on call tonight, so I spoke with his replacement.  She said that it sounded like dumping to her and that I should take two Immodium AD tablets.   When she told me that I had two thoughts...one was "What's to dump---there's NOTHING IN THERE and two I need to crush those pills because having them be stuck in there does not appeal to me either.   I spoke with my nutritionist earlier this afternoon.  She had the same thoughts as you with the intolerance.   She also suggested that until I get everthing regulated again that I go back a stage. I've been back from the drug store for about 10 minutes.  Hopefully all will be well by morning.   Thanks for the response.   Ist PS.  Can you reccommend any of the powders that can be mixed with jus****er.  Everything I can find here has to be mixed with milk.

Going back a stage sounds like the right idea to me too.  That is kind of what I have had to do with my tummy pains.  I am getting most of my protein from liquids right now.  I was able to get them all by food, but the pain got to be too much.  I go see a GI specialist tomorrow then have to go into hospital for some tests but don't know whne as of yet.   I recently got a few samples and haven't tried them yet but here is a list of the ones that don't need water. Syntrax Nectar - comes in strawberry kiwi, twisted cherry and fuzzy navel. Scitec Nutrition Protein Delite - comes in vanilla very berry and alpine millk chocolate. and if you have a Vitamin Shoppe near you (www.vitaminshoppe.com) they will carry several powders that can mix with water.  I personally like their Jay Robb's whey Protein in strawberry.  I like their customer service much better then GNC.  Where in Ga are you?    My tummy won't let me do protein shakes right now.  I am having to buy the RTD (ready to drink) stuff and I finally found some that don't taste terrbile.  They are EAS Myoplex Lite and EAS AdvantEDGE.  They probably both have a milk base.   It would probably be best if you could go iinto a store that specializes in the protei drinks like vitamin shoppe.  A lot of the proteins (powders and such) are milk based.  But then again, it could be enough for you to just cut out the added milk and use water or juice.  I found two juices at Kroger that are good for us.  They are a Ocean Spray Light crangrape  and Old Orchard Healthy Balance apple.  But remember you should be able to mix the powder you already have with soy or lactose free milk.  It may be cheaper to try that first.   Another thing you can get is the IDS 25 or 42 GM New Whey Protein Bullet.  They are 3 ounce vials and I make up a water bottle with crystal light and put in 1/3 of a vial with it.  I do this with every water bottle I have all day long and that really helps with the protein.  They run about $2.99 at vitamin shoppe.   Let me know how this works out for you.  Make sure you get in enough water (crystal light really helps).  Don't sweat it too much if you are a bit low on protein for a couple of days so long as you bring it back up as soon as you can tolerate it.  It doesn't do much good for you if it is going to come right back out before being able to absorb it.

Thanks for all of that information.   Hope all goes well with you at the Dr's office today.   I think I'll go to Kroger and look for the crangrape.  A cool glass of that sounds really good right now.  The Immodium helped me get through the night with no more episodes, but as soon as I started moving around my stomach started churning again.  I'll try another dose of the meds if that doesn't work, I'll be in Dr. Blaney's office this afternoon. Post when you get home to let us know what the Doc says. Take care,  Ingrid

Hi, Wanted to send you a note of encouragement and to also let you know about Isopure drinks.... they are at GNC.... have no sugar, and are good when mixed with crystal light.  Each bottle has 40 grams of protein, and I just use a half of a bottle at a time with the crystal lite.  Pat also has very good suggestions.  You might try Lactaid milk.... I have to use that as well.  Hope that all gets better for you soon!  Hang in there. Beth

Thanks Beth for the encouragement.   I was close to desperate yesterday afternoon.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all goes as planned today.

Thanks for the GNC tips as well.

Who knew I'd find an entirely new group of "friends" when I started looking at this site.  You guys are appreciated. Take care. Ingrid
