Terronda, I hate to tell you this but there are no Dr's in the state of Georgia that do revisions. I am currently in Ohio where I just had a revision on 6/4. Let me restate by saying this may in fact depend on the type of revision you have. It was recommended that I have a revision to a DS (from a RNY GB)-and this is what I was approved for. Now, the revision is in fact not a "true revision".  My pouch stayed in tact- the change was made in my lower intestine- the revision I have had has made my intestines work in the manner they would if I had had a DS in the first place. The Dr. who did mine was Dr. John Maguire who is located in Dayton, Ohio. He did the procedure at the Miami Valley Hospital. I am fortunate because am from Dayton and my famly still lives here. I am recuperating at my Mom's. Please note that the process for a revision is the same as if you are starting all over. You have to go through the whole process all over again.  Mine was realtively easy because I had a ton of post op issues with my initial surgery.  I also had my local surgeon consulting with my revision surgeon and  they are working together as a team towards the common goal of my health. I hope this helps you

Terronda, I am not an expert on this, nor do I claim to be.  I saw the other persons response below in regards to Emory and I will give you one piece of advise.  Please research wisely and carefully.  When I spoke to Emory, the type of revision needed for my needs were not up to par.  The only other DS doctors that are well known are Dr. Maynard and Dr. Smith- NETHEIR would do it due to risk factors. My first suggestion would be to have a consultation with a surgeon to see if... 1. You are elegible for a revision 2. Determine the type of revision required Once you do this, then I suggest you start your research and make sure that you are with a qualified surgeon who can get you through this as best possible as there is more risk with the revision process-

Hello, Dr Lin at Emory Crawford Long in Atlanta does revisions.  I know of 2 people that have had revisions done with him.  One was a vbg to a ds and the other a rny to a ds. I don't know if they accept tricare and Emory is a pain to deal with. Marie

Hi! Just wanted to let you know about the new procedure that is being done by Dr. Overcash in Ocala, FL.  It is called Stomaphyx.  It is a procedure where they go in endoscopically and basically pleat the stomach which returns it to a small size.  He said they can reduce the volume by as much as 80%.  This procedure is for post RNYers who have stretched their pouch. If you have began gaining your weight back and can eat near normal or normal amounts again you may be a candidate.  Some insurance companies cover this too.  The cost is about $9500 (cost of revision is $25000 and upward).  Dr. Overcash said that those who self pay go home the same day but if insurance pays they require an overnight stay.  It may be worth checking out.  Call his office! Hope this might help you or at least give you another option to look at. Kat

I was also looking for a revision doc in Ga and could not find one what would come near me with a 10 foot poll.  it was bad.  Now Dr overcash in FL would see me but my insurance would not let me go.  So needless to say i ended up with a great Doc in Mexico ...and got my revision.  Had to pay myself but i am glad i did it.  I just can not belive the docs in GA at all.  They are unreal  Laura

if you dont mind me asking how much did it cost. i just feel that the revision will be so expensive because of the risks i guess!
