Hey Georgia!

Happy Friday!
Margie
yes i've tried his too.but if you can get in her's when shes there she is so funny. i live in the south so catfish is a regular, so are big old captains..........(men)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . since i lost the weight i want to do fun things, not laid back.don't have time to chill by the creek.. can rest at home

I used to live in Savannah. They have a lot of fun tours you can take-- and if you like Paula Deen, they actually have a tour specifically about her. Her restaurant (and Uncle Bubbas, her brothers) are both great--they serve the same foods mostly and Uncle Bubbas is a LOT easier to get into. River Street is a lot of fun-- lots of souvenirs. The beach isn't far from there either. Savannah is AWESOME!!! Have a great time!
BE SURE TO GET THERE EARLY TO GET ON THE LIST!!!!!!!! My mom and I got there around 4 oclock because dinner started at 5:30. At that point, they told us they could get us in around 9:30pm!!!! Be prepared to wait!!!
We went to Uncle Bubba's instead and walked right in...same food, but you probably won't see her.
Tybee Island, lots of shopping, River Street, Savannah Sand nats baseball game if your into that, and the restaurants that have been mentioned are nice but just as they say are real crowded and you must arrive early or plan to wait hours. Paula has a new grandbaby and you hardly ever see her anymore because she is always so busy. A nice seafood restaurant here that I recommed is a place called Steamers on the southside and there is also one in Richmond Hill. They are both excellet. Savannah mall is nice but Oglethorpe mall is better and bigger.
You can take a trolley ride or a carriage ride downtown which is nice also. Forysth park or any of the squares downtime is nice too. Another beach close by is Jekyll Island in Brunswick. There us a skating or roller blading rink that is also a paint ball and arcade in the area to if you like that or have kids that would like that. Lake mayer is a nice walking area and park. There is an acquatic center here that has a nice indoor pool area. I am not sure where you will be here but Jekyll Island, Tybee Island, and River Street all host fire work shows for July 4th. I am not sure of the exact dates but some are held on the 4th and some are held the weekend before. There is usually a huge bar-b-q event and craft show in Richmond Hill which is near Savannah in Gregory park the weekend before the 4th.
Hilton Head has lots of golf courses, shopping at Shelter cove, nice beaches, lots of minature golf, and the great light house area. HH plantation is nice too. You can rent boats and/or take dolphin tours on HH or Tybee also if that is your thing.
Memorial hosptial in Savannah host two support meetings each month so if one is being held(1st Monday of each month and 3rd Wednesday of each month) while you are here stop by and say hello to other WLS members.
I have been in this area for years so if you have anymore questions let me know and I will help all that I can. I plan to take a trip to NY in the fall or early winter of 2008 and any advice would be appreciated. Enjoy your trip.

Hey Tami-
Thanks for all of the ideas. I saw the weather reports for next week and looks like so much rain we may have to plan alot of indoor stuff. Really wanted to spend time in the sun! ANd I want to go to the dolphin tours you mentioned!
Thanks for the info on the WLS mtgs too!
Where in NY will you be visiting?
Margie
The usual NYC things..........central park, ground zero, statue of liberty, etc............hubby wants to walk in the crunchy fall leaves in central park in October like one of his favorite movies with Richard Geer and Wynoia ryder called Autumn in NY.
It rains a lot here in the afternoon but it does not last long and is just usually afternoon pop up showers and thunderstorms due to the afternoon heat so don't worry about any rain that the weather channel advises of. Plan things for in the morning and early afternoon.
I will try to find some dolphin tour info for you. It has been a long time but I remember seeing a sign for it while on the way to Tybee Island years ago. If I find anything I will post the info.
