Pat I have a few questions to ask you about my dates.Okay my 1st apointment is 7-3-07 thats for consult.2nd 7-10-07 for pre-op 3rd 7-11-07 surgery day .Is this the way thing go?.Are is my pre-op to close to each other?I mean don't I have to clean my body first with the fleet drink
Please inform me as soon as possible 4th follow-up 7-31-07
Hey darling,
Yes the preop appt does seem to be very close to the surgery appt. Lori (the nurse) should realize that on your appt on the 3rd and give you your preop instructions. YOU need to be sure to ask her if she doesn't. On the 3rd they will probably put you on a liquid diet. Then on your preop (the 10th) they tell you all the complications and give you the preop instructions BUT....I will tell you. They will have you buy two small bottles of phospho fleets. (This is another reason you will be glad ot he liquid diet ). Then you will be on a CLEAR diet for 48 hours before surgery. On the first of the 24 hour diet (2 days before surgery) you will drink one of the bottles -warning nasty- and stay near a bathroom all day. You will want to drink lots of water or flavored water and maybe have some peppermint candy to suck on to kill the taste. Then on the 2nd morning you will drink the 2nd bottle. The second one is harder to get and keep down. You know hwat is coming. Then by the morning of surgery you will be very clean and this is what you want. You will hear of other doctors that don't do a cleansing but trust me you want to be clean. That also means that after surgery you won't be constipated at first.
Please just remember to talk with the nurse on the 3rd to get your preop instructions. You wouldn't want surgery to be delayed because of an error no matter who's error it is.
