Hi All!!!

Hi Everyone!!!  I'm new to this site and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Andrea, and I live in Covington Ga, right outside of Atlanta.  I am going through the beginning process for WLS.  So far, so good.  I really wanted Lapband Surgery, but my insurance will only cover Gastric Bypass.  I'm really nervous about having the procedure so any advice you guys can give me is appreciated.   I liked that Lapband is easily reversed where as with Bypass it is very hard to correct.  I'm also worried about never being able to eat anything with sugar.  I know sugar is bad.:) But a little once in a blue moon is nice. Hi Andrea!  My son and his wife live in the Porterdale mill apts. Covington is such a wonderful town and I love visiting there. I am having the LapBand but was considering the bypass until the insurance changed to cover lapband.  Good luck in you process.

Hi Andrea, Welcome to your new world.  I had the lap RNY just 2 months ago.  I haven't regretted it even for a minute.  They say there is nothing that you will NEVER be able to have again.  Anythin and everything will be in moderation.  They do tell you to limit your sugars to 6 GM a serving but most people are able to have occasional treats.  You will learn to read packages better and make choices that will work for you.  Also, if something says 12 gm sugar per serving...you may only eat a bite or maybe half the serving so you wouldn't be getting the whole 12 gm.  Have you attended any support group meetings yet?  There is one the first wednesday of every month at Rockdale medical center.  Watch this board and there should be a reminder.   Good luck and hope to hear from you again soon.

Hello Andrea,  I want to say Hello! I'm almost 10 months out from my RNY and I have really enjoyed my new life. I'm able to do a lot more things and I have been meeting so many new people. I'm a OH SUPPORT GROUP LEADER at HENRY MEDICAL CENTER we have our meeting on the 4th Tuesday of the month. I also attend the one at ROCKDAL E MEDICAL CENTER Kristi Eassey is the leader there. She is really a wonderful person. I look forward to meeting you there.  Hug's
