Hi-hoping to get banded but work for the state of GA, and BCBS policy excludes ANYTHING for weight loss, even though Georgia law requires that coverage must be offered. The STATE, in it's wisdom, chose NOT to include that coverage. How do we fight this? Anyone know? Ideas?

Where did it ever say that WL must be covered in GA...I'm a teacher, but I decline the health benefits b/c my hubby's are way better...

My surgeon says that the weight loss exclusion for the state was put through the legislature by accident. It was buried deep within a bill and now the only thing we can do is to call or write our congress/senators to complain. He says it is an uphill battle and will take quite some time and work and unless everyone complains they may not pu****

I also had BC/BS SHBP plan until I found out that NO (including UHC) SHBP will cover WLS. Thank goodness open enrollment was right around the corner. I dropped my hubby's and took Aetna through my employer. Good luck!
