All medicaid people out there, I need your help!

Alright here is my newest delima. Medicaid wants me to choose one of their three plans. AMERIGROUP, WELLCARE, PEACHSTATE. The PCP I was going to choose only accepts AMERIGROUP and WELLCARE. I was going to choose her because she is supportive and familiar with the clearences and the referals I need to get for Dr. Duncans group. Well Dr. Duncans office told me they only accept PEACHSTATE, but sometimes the hospital allows AMERIGROUP on a case by case basis. Confused? Yeah me too!!! I think basically I need to either find another PCP that accepts PEACHSTATE and is supportive of WLS (that is VERY important to me) or make sure that there will not be a problem with this AMERIGROUP and the hospital Dr. Duncans office uses. ok so here is where you come in! Has anyone had any experience with this problem before? And can anyone give me some more PCP names that are on the southside that I can call? I feel like I am so close I would hate to get even closer and find out it can't happen because I picked the plan!! Thanks everyone, you all have been so wonderful to me!!!

Hi I have medicaid and my doctor was relunctant at first and then she had several patients that has had the surgery and now she's supportive and giving me a refferral in fact I recieved it today by mail. Her name is Dr. Dana Wadsworth she is located a 842 N. Highland Ave. off Ponce De Leon and her phone number is 404-501-7900. Maybe she might be able to help. I'm in the process of obtaining all of my info again and I'm anxious to have the surgery I was approved before and I got scared but I'm trusting GOD and going thru it if medicaid allows me to this time. Candy, I know all to well and how b m,ad you want this surgery but, God allows things to happen for a reason. This may be one of them. I am familiar with AMERIGROUP. My PCP is very wls knowledgeable and will work with you through your clearances. She is at Piedmont. Just a thought.... have you thought about looking into another doc who might work with you more? Hi, I have Peach State and I could not be any happier with them. I was approved in 4 days with them. I do know that Ameri Group requires a 6 month supervised diet. Peach State did not. I went to Emory but they have a 1 year waiting list if you have Medicade. I am 2 months out now and it was well worth the wait. I am doing great down 53 pounds and a total of 85. This year gave me the time to change my eating habits to prepare for surgery cut the soda and sugars out. I know Dr. Duncun does an excellent job from others who I have talked to. I just received medicaid after being let go from work. I was refered to a Bariatric Surgeon a few months ago by my PCP. hi candy my name is kita and i had amerigroup and they denied me cause i did not have a 12 month diet plan. and also atlanta medical did not take them. so i change to wellcare and got app with a 12month program. but peach state don't ask for all of that so if i where you i would go with peach state cause they app you with in days you have no prolems with them at all . i would find a dr that takes there inc cause you will not have any problems with them trying to get app. for your surgrey .. good luck on your journey. but if it was me i would pick peach state. but well care is good to but i would have rather had peach state. i would have had my surgery back in dec.06 if i had peach state insteed of having it two weeks ago but i'm happy its over with. i got approved with wellcare and had my surgery done by dr.duncans office. so once again good luck!!!!
