I have been approved for the RNY surgery twice and I told some people who were very discouraging well now I'm doing things different and I'm only looking for people who are supportive my life is at stake and I don't want to die from obesity and something can be done. I'm a new member here and I have set up all of my appointments and I'm ready,my only hold back is I'm struggling to stop smoking can someone help me with this because Dr. Duncan requires you to stop smoking at least 3 months prior to surgery. I met a lady who has had the surgery and I am very impressed with her success and I would like to meet others who are in the process of having the surgery or that has had the surgery. Looking to hear from you.

Hi Veronica, Welcome back to the process of improving your life. I have only recently had my Lap RNY (almost 4 weeks ago) with Dr Duncan's office. I know what you mean reguarding negative people. I felt the pressure and became almost secretive with several people. I was very picky about who I shared information with. I found it very helpful... almost lifesaving...when I met some people from this site in person and got their information and support. There is a wonderful lady on this forum...Jeannie....that is just the best. You PCP should be able to help you with the smoking issue. I am not a smoker so I can't help you much there. Good luck and keep in touch with us. I would love to hear from you again on how you are doing. ~~~Pat~~~

Dont know if you will consider this, but I quit smoking about 5 weeks ago and have not had any problems......you are asking, how did she do it??? I went to this clinic in Norcross that has the 'No smoking shot'....the cost was $477, but it was worth it....I had smoked since my early 20's and that was over 30 years ago...The shot literally took away all the physical cravings, but you will still have to deal with the emotional and mental cravings....if you want to know more send me a PM, and I will give you more details.
