Hi..Im new here. I had the Roux-en-Y two weeks ago and after some complications I had to go back in and have some corrctions done. So my Lap turned into an Open. Recovery is slow but I think Im finally going to make it. I am supposed to be on Mechanical foods but am having a hard time finding a good list , does anyone have any suggestions? I have already completed my clear, full and pureed diet (3-4 days each per dietician) now Im stuck and sick of mashed potatoes and soup. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HI Cara, Welcome to OH and the loser's bench. I am not famaliar with the term "mechanical" foods. I am almost 4 weeks out and I am just on pureed-soft foods. I have gotten through most of my boredom with foods by selecting a variety of soups that I could partially puree and by adding baked beans and refried beans. You just have to be careful of the sugar content. And don't forget the eggs, soft scrambled or soft boiled. And I just found out we can have tuna too but it does say to blend it first. I tried some without blending it, I just chewed it real well. Good luck. Hope to see you around soe more to keep us in touch with what is happening with you. ~~~Pat~~~

Ground or lean meat or poultry: flaked fish; soybean and other meat substitutes; low fat cottage cheese; low fat cheese; cook cereals or refined dry cereal moistened in milk; rice, pasta, white or refined wheat bread, crackers, well cooked, soft without skin or seeds veggies, mashed carrots, mashed squash, beets, veggie juice. unsweetened cooked or canned furit without skins or seeds, bananas, catalope, juice. I hope this helps this is what I have listed in my book the dr. gave me. Alicia
