New to Atlanta, looking for WLS friends
Hey there Georgia board! I'm new to Atlanta, I just moved to Vinings from NJ. I'll be 2yrs out from surgery in a couple of days (the 18th). I've done well, but I still have my daily struggles. I don't know many people in the area but I'm looking to make some WLS friends who'll understand why I only eat half of my Zaxby's salad... you know? I've heard about the support group at Cobb Hospital, but are there any others in the area?

Hey Ann! I found out about a support group the 2nd Saturday of the month... it's at 9am at Cobb Hospital. Would you be interested in going? I'm definitely going to figure out how to get my tired butt out of bed for it
Thanks for the welcome! I love it here already and it's been, officially, less than a month. What brought you to Atlanta? For me it was my mom (she's in Huntsville, and GA to AL is MUCH closer than NJ to AL!) and wanting an adventure. I hope I'll get to talk to you soon.

Hi there...
I already spoke to you about the WLS meeting at Cobb hospital which I am going to try really hard to attend this weekend...but there are two others in this area that I also found out about...I plan to try all of them and see which is closer and which has the best support! (topics, etc)....I am not sure where they are yet, but will figure it out!
***Second Saturday of each month at Cobb Hospital in the Auditorium One at
9 am (must pay to park)
***Third Thursday of each month at Wellstar Development Center in the Chattooga Roonear Kennestone Hospital, at the corner of Sessions St and Roselaneat 6:30 pm (free parking)

I was told that we are welcome to attend any or all of these meetings and decide which one we feel most comfortable at...or go to all each month...whatever

Hi Michelle,
Welcome to Atlanta! I'll try to help even though I am new to all of this. I 'm scheduled for surgery May 8th, but I have been going to Dr. J. K. Champion's support group at Northside Hospital right off 285 in Dunwoody. Love it! It meets the first Saturday of every month from 11:00 to 1:00. I love the folks there and they welcome everyone. Lots of the people who come are from other surgeons. I look froward to going every month and we would love to have you. Best wishes with your new move.
