Hi, This is my first post. I am 37 years old and I need the bariatric surgery. I also have twin friends that I graduated high school with and they need the surgery too. We have chosen Dr. Freeman in Anniston Alabama to do our surgery but we have found out that all 3 of our insurance does not cover this type of surgery. My health is good compared to theirs (Lisa & Lori). They both have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, along with several other medical problems. We are all moms and can not afford to pay out of pocket. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how we can come up with $18095.00 each without having to borrow the money? We know that GOD will make a way. I feel that if we don't do this surgery our lives will be in danger. Lisa weighs 357, Lori weighs 331 and I weigh 311.5. Can anyone help us???? Thanks to everyone for your encouraging testimonials and photos, the before and afters are awesome!!!

Hi Vera, I used Dr Freeman and I was a cash pay. I used him because he was cheeper than Atlanta. Then when I went to meet with him I really like him and the staff. I wish you the best on your journey. Hug's Jeannie

Ummmm I hate to sound sarcastic...but if insurance doesn't pay and you don't have the cash, then how do you plan on getting 18095.00 That's about as much as a decent new car. To me, this surgery saved my life in so many more ways than my toyota matrix did. Good luck.

Hi Vera! Did you try to fight it? I still (2yrs after my surgery) have this little theory that most insurances initially deny EVERYONE! That way you'll hopefully give up! Keep trying! Have your PCP write a letter of necessity, talk to your surgeon's office and see if they'll help you. I would never have been able to have my surgery if not for the support of my doctors. Good luck!
