WOW moments are growing
Since surgery Jan. 9, 2006 I have lost 129 pounds. Pretty good for an old lady.
I have gone from a size 30 / 32 dress and pants that fit tight. To a size 14, and am wearing my grand-daughters clothes.
People do not know me.
I went to visit my grandsons I have not seen in a while. And their sept-dad did not know me. And said do I know you, wish I had a camara to a picture of his face.
I went to see my old PCP and her receptionist said she is really busy does the doctor know you, have you been here before. I had this doctor for over 10 years, when I told her my name, she ran and got the doctor, and the doctor called me in her office and asked what I did. I told her I finally had the surgery she had been trying to get me to have for over 10 years.
And other people I know I went to see have the same reaction, SHOCK. And so happy for me. WOW, WOW, WOW.
I feel great and no longer take insulin, and a bag of meds I use to take, and very small doses of blood pressure meds. And of course I take my vitamins and protien drinks.
The only thing is I am having a problem getting in my 80 oz. of water a day. And I feel full all the time yet. I may be loosing slower than younger women but I am very happy with results of my surgery. Now to figure out how to get the full body tuck. And loose the turkey neck, I can live without the body tuck, but the turkey neck you can not hide. And I don't like turtle neck tops.
I hope everyone is having a great journey. And lots of WOW moments, too. And they are healthier than they were before the journey started.
And my liver function tests are back to normal. Some people just take longer than other for that to get back to normal. But my PCP was getting real worried that something was wrong and I had so many blood tests over the last year and even a liver biopsey and liver scan. But I am now back to normal.
I know I have not been here in a while because I have not had the internet and the house for a year, and I have to post my new photos when I figure out how to do that again since it has been a year since I put photos on my profile.
And I had a loss of my furbaby Boston Terrier on December 12, 2006, I lost her to stomach cancer. And even now I cry a lot when I think of her, she slept on my pillow by my head. She was a sweet little girl, even my other furbaby, Toto, my rat terrier misses her.
Well, I hope everyone is doing great, and your families are proude of the new you.
And Vanessa from Blairsville if your out there some time email. I think of how you are doing.
God bless you all.
Hugs
Lynda

Lynda, I was so happy to see your post and know that you are doing well. I live over in Murphy and am looking for local folks who have walked this road. I had surgery on February 27 - last week and am still recouping. I, too, am in my 50's and healing a little slower, I guess. I'm doing well though with eating and beginning to move around like a normal person. Please keep in touch!
Sincerely,
Alberta
Alberta so happy you are doing well. It will be some ride your on now. You won't know who that is in the mirror in a few months. I still see myself in my minds eye as the big person I was, but people don't know me when I see them.
Are you on diabeties meds? Well, if you are you won't be on them long sweetie, because this will get that back to normal as you loose the weight. Did you have the Lap type surgery or was yours open? I had the laproscopic surgery and had no pain or disconfort at all. The night I had surgery as soon as they let me out of bed, I was walking up and down the hospital all night long. The only problem I had was when they gave me the leak test, I am allergic to iodine and there is iodine in the dye for the test and I broke out in a redrash all over my body, thank God it was not a bad reaction, but they gave me a benydral shot and that kept it from getting any worse than what it was, but they kept me about 3 hours longer to make sure I did not get any worse.
Dr. Hobson of Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics did my surgery, went in at 6a.m and was discharged the next morning at 12:15p.m. Stayed at the Mary Ann Mannly House a block from the hosptial for 5 days as Dr. Hobson likes the patient to be in the Atlanta area for at least 5 days just in case some thing should go wrong. It only cost $5.00 a day to stay there, it is part of the Atlanta Medical Center and it is for patients and familly that are in the Atlanta Medical Center to stay. I had my grand-daugter stay with me, because they want some one to be with you incase anything should happen because there is no one at the house only people that have family or patients that are recovering that live to far away from the Atlanta area.
If I had your address, one day when I am in the Murphy area I could drop by and met you. Here is my email address at my house [email protected] feel free to email there if you like.
Make sure you get all the water you can in each day, I got dehydrated about 11/2 months out because I just could get that much of any thing down. You are so full all the time. Today I ate some cornfreder for supper and it is making me a little sick. So that will mean that the pouch does not like them. It is funny because sometime after this surgery your new stomach does not like certain foods anylonger even thou before you could eat them. And believe me when the pouch doesn't like it any longer you don't feel to good. And you learn not to eat certain things any longer very quickly.
I weighed over 330 when I frist went to the meeting about surger. The day of surgery I weighed 316 and now I am, I just realized, I a member of the 100 club, that is people that are less than 200 pounds, WOW I can't believe it myself. I weigh 189 now, and am still loosing slowly but surelly. And I guess I have about 30 to 40 pounds of loose skin I would love to get rid off, if I can figure out a way to get the surgery done. They say that is the most painful surgery there is. And I don't know if the doctor would do it at my age. Like I said the turkey neck is really what I would like to be removed, you can cover up the rest and hide it from the world but not your neck.
Well, I will get off of here for now. Just take your time and drink tha****er and walk all you can, that is important.
God Bless and hope to met you one day.
Hugs,
Lynda
Lynda, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to send me these words of encouragement.
I was on diabetes meds but, have not had them since before entering the hospital (Northside Atlanta) for surgery. I had the laproscopic RNY and am healing very nicely. Still a little stiff but, not too bad at all. I was in the hospital from Tuesday until Friday. I had to stay an extra day due to a slight temperature and some nausea.
I weighed 322 the day prior to surgery and hope to lose at least 150 pounds. I'm sure I will have skin down to my knees but, can't "stomach" the thought of another surgery now!
I'm drinking plenty of liquids and today was my first trip out to town - just a couple of stores.
I will email you privatley with my address - I would love to meet you!
Hugs to You,
Alberta
