Approved for the RNY Today!!! (CrossPost)

I got a call from my case manager at Cigna this afternoon to tell me they approved the RNY for me! Yay!!! I requested the DS after extensive research because Cigna 'said' they cover the code for the DS. They approved that code as an OUTpatient procedure and denied it as an INpatient procedure. Cigna considers the DS investigational and experimental regardless of the fact that medicare now covers it! In light of this, we submitted for the RNY two weeks ago (Ciga said they didn't get it) and again this morning and I got approved a few hours later!! WooHoo!!! Now I need a surgery date and I'm on my way! Yaaay!! Sue
