Dr. Lin did my surgery in May 2006 at Emory Crawford Long hospital. My advice to you is find another doctor and another hospital. The staff at the bariatric center is horrible- rude, unhelpful, hateful. The insurance approval process was a nightmare. Not because of my insurance, because of the stupid system they have at Emory. You aren't allowed to talk to the insurance person only the "call center" and they will "relay any messages". It was insane. Dr. Lin seemed fine before the surgery but afterwards I felt like he just wrote me off. It seemed like once my insurance paid the bill he had no use for me anymore. The wait time in his office was usually 2-3 hours past my appointment time. At this point, I am 8 months out and feel like I should be getting follow up care and blood work but I refuse to go back to Emory. It is just to stressful. Others may have had a totally different opinion of Dr. Lin and Crawford Long but this was my experience.

Hi Sherry, Ed Lin was my doctor, rny 7/05. I have nothing but good things to say about him. Like the previous poster their office has a lot to be desired, they are working on it, but like anything it takes time. They have a very specific list of things that need to be done previous to surgery, (they have a day from hell, basically you have a nutrition class and a bunch of tests) They do have a waiting list, and got top notch care. Good luck on your journey Erica

Hi Sherry, You may want to check out a yahoo group called WingsAroundAtlanta. There are many people there that have used Dr Lin. I agree with what both posters have said. The Emory program is absolutely horrible. They have been working on problems with the call center/clerical staff for 3 years now, seems like it could have been worked out by now. I know several people that were in the process with Emory and changed drs. One had even had surgery with another dr when Emory called her to schedule some testing! They also charge to attend support groups which is ridicoulous. Data shows that folks who attend a support group regularly tend to do better long term than folks who do not. Again Dr Lin is a great dr and he is one of the few that will do revisions. The way the Emory program is set up though you don't have follow ups with your surgeon you meet with a bariatriction(sp). That is why it is important when choosing your surgeon to ask who will being doing my follw up and how often will I see him/her. How far along in the process are you? Good luck, Marie post op, 12/02/03 lap rny, Dr Hart
