HAIR LOSS
Some people take Biotin. That never worked for me. The only thing that worked for me was time. My hair is better now...18 months post op, but it is different. It got pretty thin but after time, it started to grow back. I feel your pain. I used to have long, thick hair...not anymore. I would say, see a good stylist who can help you with a hair style that makes the best of your hair while you are waiting for it to grow back. Make sure to take your vitamins. I have also started getting protein treatments at the salon...not sure if they are helping or not, but it does make my hair feel really good.
I have figured out that my hair loss seems to be directly related to my low iron count. My iron goes up and down and I take alot of vitamins and alot of iron but I have always had a problem even before the surgery absorbing iron. It is a heritary thing but I did used to have long thick hair and now I don't anymore. I did find some shampoo that really helps it is called Nioxin Cleanser and Nioxin Scap Therapy and after one use I noticed a difference. It is not cheap and I am not sure where you get it in GA, I found it at the HEB(large grocery store) here in TX and each bottle was 13.00. I found out about it from my sister who had not had the surgery but had had an awful time with thinnng hair and had been using this and I saw her in Dec. for the first time in a year and her hair looked so think and wonderful and she said it is this stuff and vitamins. So I am giving it a try.

The hair loss situation happened just by the mere fact that you were put to sleep...but I dont want to have any surgery without being put to sleep...LOL I had three surgeries last year (WLS complication, gyn, and plastic), and each time within a matter of a few months, I experienced some hair loss. At least in the future, you will know that this will happen.

I have been told to take biotin, zinc and iron to help with the hair loss. I take all three. Also I have heard that not enough protein causes lose, too. I work real hard at getting in enough protein.
I had surgery wls 22 months ago and have had two major spells of hair lose. I had PS two months ago and that surgery did not seem to make me lose hair.
