Pain when eating with LapBand
Hi everyone. I just joined this site hoping to have some of my lap-band questions answered. I had surgery on August 21st and am about 55 pounds down. I'm very excited about my progress, but since my second fill on December 8th, I have had extreme gas pain in my chest when I eat. This usually result in me having reflux to get up the food stuck above my band. I've lost a lot of weight since the second fill, but I barely eat anything! The pains in my chest are worse than pains after surgery and it's really getting to be a problem, especially when we go out to eat. I don't eat anything during the day until about 3:00, then I try to eat dinner around 6 or 7. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't want to get any removed from my band, but this pain is getting to be a little much. Please help if you can relate.
Congratulations on your weightloss! In my opinion you need to call the Dr asap! It sounds like you might be too tight. Even though you're loosing weight sounds like you are not eating like we are supposed to. Removing some fluid from your band will probably be such a relief you'll wonder why you didn't call the doc sooner. I am almost 4 months out and am down 45 lbs and have no pain eating at all. I have not found anything I can't eat so far but since my 3rd fill I can tell that I'm having to eat slower and chew more. (which I should have been doing all along!)
Good luck, If I can help in any way let me know.
Phyllis
I took the advise and called my surgeon this morning. I met him in his office this afternoon and he removed only 2/10 of a cc, but what a world of difference that made. I ate dinner tonight with no pain, and that hasn't happened in a month! I hope to continue with the weight loss but without the starvation. Thanks for the replies.
