Dear OH Family, I have really been struggling w/ greed. I eat sometimes when I know I am not hungry or just because it is there. I feel like I may be in danger of stretching my pouch. ( I am still not able to eat alot- maybe a cup to a cup and a half.... but the temptation is THERE! ) I also noticed that I may be eating more carbs then I should be. I have no ideal how many carbs I should be eating per day and I have the desire to make this thing work but it is getting hard.... I am frustrated... PLEASE help! I have started to experiment w/ sweets, not a lot just as much as my pouch can tolerate w/out getting sick .... I guess I am just looking for some support and making excuses. I have been at a plateau for about 4-6 weeks- I have gotten so discouraged that I have stopped weighing myself. I am trying to up the water, exercise like I should...but it is COLD. I have an appointment with my doctor on the 20th...should I mention my concerns to him..... Just needing some support. Cynamon I was just wondering if it is something that I should mention to my doctor or if it is perfectly normal?

Girl-- you are not alone. I can eat half of an egg and cheese biscuit. Should I be able to do that? I ate a warm cookie today I can eat pretty much anything just about a cup at the time. I have been at a plateau and I will ask my dr about it on Dec.18th. I am not going to tell him what I've been eating though. We have had such limited access to food for such a long time including before the surgery diets and post op that I have want to experiment and see what I can do. I think we still aren't eating as much as we use to, so can it be that bad? I agree about the excercise...it is too COLD... I am doing water and trying to get in more protein. Good Luck!!

I'm not going to be down on your for your eating habits - but I will tell you the old way WILL put the weight back on you - even if it's not in the same portions. The reason for this is 1) they have a MUCH higher sugar rate of absorbtion and your body WILL absorb the sugars.......(especially if you don't dump on them) 2) if you're not exercising (even when it's cold) your metabolism will shut down again. I am a certified group fitness trainer and will tell you there are PLENTY of exercises you can do INDOORS......To me excuses like "it's too cold" is a bunch of malarky. When you exercise your body tempreature rises and you AREN'T cold for long. You DON'T have to join a gym to exercise. There are plenty of places on the net that can give you ideas of how to exercise on your own and indoors if you'd rather during the winter. C'mon - think about it. Did you have the surgery to not make the most of it? (Please don't take this as talking down - I don't mean any of it negatively.....) Dee Dee

You are very normal. These are food demons for sure. The main thing you have to try to identify is why you are wanting to eat. Are you really hungry or it is just head hunger? Are you bored? There are so many things it could be. As hard as it is, make sure to maintain control now. It doesn't get easier down the road. The amount you can eat will change even more. Once you start experimenting before you know it you can be back down that path. Get control now and you will be better off. It's very hard! I know, each day is a work in progress, but I know you can do it. Don't keep the foods around you, that's the first thing. Out of sight out of mind. Good luck, and come tell us how you are doing. Amy
