Brunswick, Georgia??
Nope, Dr Henderson did the bypas on me and I'll tell you it is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life. Bypass is permenent lap band can be removed. I have known people that have had to have it adjusted, tightend, loosend. All kinds of BS if you ask me.. Why would you want to be cut on so many times for that band? And why the band? Are you thinking of losing the weight and taking it off? Not me my choice was for life.. I never want to get fat again.. lol if I get over 145 I start freaking out.. I went from a size 22 to a size6 and they stretch out and bag on me. So I am buying tight ass size 4's and they stretch out enough fr me to breath, but not bag.. lol
I love to buy clothes now, and I can hit only clearance racks because of the size.. My daughter is in an 18/20 and there is never anything on the racks for her.
I think you really should think about you decision. Make sure this is what you want.. I did it to get healthy I was going to die so fat. Now all I have to do is give myself a B12 shot every month, that's it..
Sorry I rambled. I just hope this is what you want.. Come on over to the losers side...
Autumn

Autumn and Lisa,
Lisa, I had the lapband done in Oct. by Dr. Henderson. He's wonderful and the surgery has given me back my life. It's already been worth the $16,000. I had to self-pay.
Autumn, I'm glad the Gastric Bypass has worked for you but to get adjustments and fills with a lapband...there's no cutting. It's adjustments done with a needle. It's fast and painless.
Either route taken isn't easy but it's all of apersonal choice. I feel the lapband gave me a little more freedom in eating and wasn't so drastic. That's why I chose this route. And if for any medical reason needed..it can be undone unlike the gastric bypass.
So Lisa..if you're interested in either....speak with these doctors. They're most wonderful and will help you make this most important decision.
Good luck,
lwatts
I'm curious. I'm scheduled for the MGB in Orlando next month because it is supposed to reduce the GHERLIN that produces hunger. I do have some concerns about potential ulcers, but I've heard horror stories about the lap band - such as not being able to swallow food, the band growing into the stomach, excessive vomiting, etc. Have you had any problems with the band? Did your insurance pay for it? Do you have any regrets?
Thanks in advance... by the way, I live in St. Simons!
Sally
Yes Autumn, I have thought about the Gastric Bypass but decided to go with the Lap Band. Less drastic like lwatts states. There are risks, but following doctors orders are very important.
I went to my first seminar with Dr. Henderson and he's a sweetie and very kind and informative. I arrived with a page and a half of questions and he answered every one during the seminar
I took a "package" and filled it out and sent it back in. My first appointment is January 2, 2007. Ater all the requirements are completed they will submit to my insurance and I'll find out if I'm approved!
It only took me an hour to get to Brunswick from Savannah!
Lisa

It is so nice to see folks from the area on here. I live on St. Simons and Dr. Henderson is doing me with lap-band the day after Christmas. I have jumped through the hoops and just started the liquid diet to reduce my interior size so he can get around.
Let me know if you want to talk. It will be a worthwhile road to follow. I have researched Dr Henderson and have learned a lot. If you want to mess up your plans for Christmas schedule surgery for the day after.....and God speed with a Merry Christmas!
Jon
Hello Jon.
Man dude, you have some will power having surgery the day after Christmas! Have you been proactive on your support system after the surgery? Are there support groups in your area?
Right now, the support system is real important to me. I know I want the surgery, and I feel it's a great tool, but I need a constant support system so that I don't gain this weight back!! We have a support group here in Savannah but I need to find out who the contact person is. I want to attend some meetings before my surgery. If I get approved that is.... Did you attend any meetings prior to surgery?
I see Sally is from St. Simons also. Hello Sally!!
Jon, drop me an email. [email protected]
Lisa
Lisa, I went to one meeting last week and I was the only person un-banded. There was a girl from Savannah who is a preacher's wife who has lost 98 pounds. She is wanting to lead a lap-band group. You can find out who she is on Dr. Henderson's / Psychologist Greg's web site.
This liquid diet is really rough. Been almost a week now. Christmas party's with food and I am doing liquid. Come on "day after Christmas!" I am an old football player who never learned to push away the plate. You sound like a young thing. I wish you well. Let me know if you need a hear.
Jon
[[You sound like a young thing]]
Thank you!!! No, I'm far from young. Hubby and I are young at heart!
There is a support group here in Savannah. I called Dr. Henderson's office and got the contact name and number the other day. I won't be able to attend any meetings this month, but plan on starting to attend in January. It's at a church, may be the same person. Churches give me the willies
, but I think I'll be able to manage.
Keep us updated on your progress Jon.
Lisa
