I'm new to this forum. I pretty much don't think I qualify for any kind of assistance with weight loss with my insurance. IF I finally turn the corner and become insulin resistant Type II diabetes they will THEN permit me to consult a nutritionist, but not before then. They'll treat my heart attack, but not my morbid obesity. Go figure. I prety much figure I'm a food addict because I'm weird about food. I am hungry almost all the time. When I'm hungry, I MUST eat, it doesn't feel optional. I try to eat helthy things, and I carry my lunch to work everyday. I've managed to get my triglicerides down significantly in the last several years. My blood glucose seems to be settling down to normal levels after a severe illness and subsequent surgery. I'd really like to learn more about foods, and understand better how to eat healthier, but from the selection of things I'll eat. Tell me to eat eggplant and liver and it's NEVER EVER going to happen. I'd really like to see my grandson grow up. I'm 55 and figure if I don't lose something like 100 pounds, I'm not going to be around to be old. Does anyone have any good suggestions for non-surgical weight loss that isn't a torture? (Frankly the peooople who write about their surgical weight loss make that seem like torture too.) I feel pretty hopeless about it all at this point in my life. Thoughts?

Joann, Although it is another form of bypass surgery, you might want to take a look at the Mini-Gastric Bypass. It has many benefits over the other options, including being less invasive, reversible, having a shorter surgery and recovery period, having fewer complications, and I could go on and on. Check out CLOS. net for the full story. I have lost over 200 pounds and am doing wonderfully! I am in a Georgia support group and have never met anyone dissatisfied with this option. If I can answer any questions, feel free to contact me. Sandy
