Well i am home ...Everything went well ...So far no issues with surgery ...i will get my first fill about Dec 22 i think and i guess you dont realize you have the band until you get your first fill so ....We will see ....Liquids for two weeks ( not sure how that will go since after the RNY i only lasted 4 days ) but i will keep you all posted .....had a rough time there with my mom ...and last night she left with out speaking to me ...So that is tough to deal with right now on top of everythng ...But i guess you just got to keep moving fwd and all ...... Hi, Laura...I'm glad to hear you are home and doing well. Your mom will come around. You are doing what you feel is best for you. She will hopefully accept that. Did Dr. Duncan's group do the band? Did insurance pay for it? I don't remember if you told us that or not. I haven't been posting much, but I have been lurking. Take care. Steph

ok let me break the news ...I went to Mexico and had the band put on cause i can not find a doc in Ga that would follow Dr Duncan and he would not do anything for me for about a year or so ....and i was gaining 5 pounds a month casuse i had no restriction at all ...So never full never knew when to stop eating ......So insurance did not pay for it and it only cost me 7000 total for everything well 7500 if you include the air ....So cheeper than what i could find around here ...and all the fills are included ...!! so that is a plus also Laura

Were you nervous about having surgery in Mexico? How did you find the surgeon and did you have pre op visits and all that sort of thing? A friend of mine wants a revision to a lap band, but her surgeon won't do it.

Hey Kathy No i was pretty sure that Mexico was the rout i needed to go ...Due to finances and after all the people i talked too i was sure i was making the right decision ...And also since i could not find a Doc in GA to follow Duncan .....And no i went down on thurday and the doc saw me and did the pre op tests he wanted and then friday i had surgery and then saturday was back in my hotel room and sunday i flew home ......So it was very easy and nice and clean and i would tell anyone to go there and have it done Laura

Laura, I'm glad to see you are back, and it went so well. How in the heck did you find this Dr. and I'm assuming you have to go to Mexico everytime you need a fill...........right? Oh a friend of mines mother, I found out the other day says she was banded in May 2005 and has NEVER went in for a fill, do you know why that would be, she says she will never have to go in, I wonder why?? Well if she never needs fills she could have a unadjustable band ...i looked into that but since i have no restriction at all we felt this was a better deal for me ...And i can go back for fills the fills and one night stay if free i just have to pay for my air there or i can find a doc here in Ga to do it ...they are going to send me a list of fill docs ...but from what i hear the fill doc is costs like 800.00 and my plan ticket to mexico is just 400.00 so i think i might be going back to mexico for fills jsut cause it is cheeper and all ....and i love some good mexican food LOL once i can eat it that is LOL Laura
